Interesting, also consistent with how in single player you can use promotions after you defend against a barb attack, but you can't use them yet in a PB game.
Whew. So that was more tense than it had to be. Augusta Victrix! Of course, that's only a small part of the invasion...
First and foremost, let's clear the ruffians off of our copper. Took one hit, sadly, due to river+hill, but the outcome was never in doubt. Legio, now, is looking to have a real party...yes that is yet another barbarian warrior incoming from the north. It's not too bad, really...just efficiently 2-pop whipped an axe, so we're clearing the nasties away without worry in the end. Going to lose the cow farm, but given I'm about to replace it with a pasture, I'm shedding no tears. Just mildly slows the next settler a bit. We certainly have a wealth of potential places for that settler to go. Magellan, proudly finished with his circumnavigation, now scouts the backlines and finds wet wheat and more. Dotmap is fairly obvious; that wheat/sheep/pig city with all the riverside grass is going to be a big deal going forward...it's the next settle, much as we would like a north city too. But all that is in the future. For now, let us delight in victory, and a brand new city as well! Fretensis lets us join the 4-city club, already working crabs and soon to own a granary. If Dtay is laggardly, it might land a GLH too but Colossus will be the priority. Looking up!

I think I finally get your sig! D + 2 = f in hex?
Which direction is city the fifth going? If its the desert plant E of legio, name it Cyrenaica? (May 17th, 2014, 12:23)Hashoosh Wrote: I think I finally get your sig! D + 2 = f in hex?Yup, D+2=F. My only original contribution to humor in this lifetime, I think. Fifth is the pig/wheat/sheep monster, as mentioned, then sixth is north for clams/capital sharing/Ox border locking(?). Desert definitely needs to be Cyrenaica, though.

Battlin' left and right! Axes are so ridiculously overpowered against warriors; we've got this front locked down until human chariots or barbarian axes.
Demos show the painful effects of whipping out these axes...and it isn't even bumping our power all that high relative to the main lot. Ouch. Better than losing a city though.

I guess that explains why you did so poorly in that game. We're finally back, kids! I've actually gotten around to naming the noble axemen who are utterly slaughtering all the invaders. Also, this turn features slaughtering more invaders.
The Legion's territories look almost clear, actually. All the axes have unavoidably delayed the Oracle, alas. In the end, though, we're at least keeping up, if not exactly front runners. And the bare minimum objective of "get religion" is done. I finally got Ox's graphs, so here's the complete set: Pindicator's next, then Dtay's. I really am a little worried about the Oracle falling this late (Turn 58 ETA), but what can ya do?
