[SPOILERS] Hoarse Lord DaveV speaks softly...

The roster:
Yell0w: Furia the Mad of the Balseraphs (CHA/RAI/BAR) Bobchillingworth: Auric Ulvin of the Illians (CHA/ARC/AGN) GreyWolf: Beeri Bawl of the Luchiurp (IND/FIN) Ellimist: Sheelba of the Clan (AGG/ORG) Kredom: Flauros of the Calabim (FIN/CRE) DaveV: Tasunke of the Hippus (AGG/RAI) Trait analysis (includes my civ): AGGressive: 2 ARCane: 1 BARbarian: 2 CHArismatic: 2 CREative: 1 FINancial: 1 INDustrious: 1 ORGanized: 2 RAIder: 2 The ever-popular opponent handicapping: Ellimist: a very good player with a strong civ (my second choice). I expect very rapid expansion to take advantage of his Barb trait, then the unit spam begins. Predicted finish: first. DaveV: if Commodore can keep me from going into "passive mode" (as Bob said in 33), I might give Ellimist a run for his money. In the end, though, I think the orcs will be stronger. Predicted finish: second. Bobchillingworth: Bob leans toward roleplaying his civ, and I expect him to go for all of the annoying rituals. That may not be his best bet for winning the game, but it could make things unpleasant for everyone else. Predicted finish: third. Yell0w: Furia also has some cute tricks; I expect Yell0w to grab several barb cities with Loki, but I don't think Furia has the strength to keep up with the other top-tier civs in this game. Predicted finish: fourth. Kredom: a new player. His choice of Flauros (the weakest leader in this setup, IMO) is not an encouraging start. But the vampires are so much better than the Luchuirp that he should be able to beat GreyWolf. Predicted finish: fifth. GreyWolf: I am not a fan of the Luchuirp; I don't think they'll do well in this setup. Predicted finish: sixth.
Sorry, Commodore, I realized I should have consulted with you before sending in these picks:
Quote:Jonas of Clan I'll have to work on this whole teammate thing. Edit: So, I sent this to Mardoc: Quote:Please put my prior picks on hold, if possible. I think Commodore deserves some input. My thinking: despite the conversation in the tech thread, I believe the barbarian trait will be very good in this setup. Jonas, especially, can spam out cities without having to defend them against the hordes (and use his worldspell to get his own horde if he needs it). On third thought, it might be best to wait until Mardoc gives us an indication of what difficulty level he has in mind, since the advantages of being a barbarian are directly proportional to the difficulty setting. Charadon is probably second best instead of third, but he's been done, recently. I just played Averax, and I'm not especially interested in another try. With Furia, on the other hand, I'd like a shot at redemption. For the last two picks (again, assuming a reasonably high difficulty level), I went with Aggressive leaders. Alexis because Vampires, and Tasunke because I've always wanted to try a pillage economy.
Hrm, looks interesting and I can see the thoughts for each. Sheebala doesn't interest you? With the heavy REX of the Clan she's always looked a little better to me. But Jonas has his uses; I like it.
Furia means puppets, right? They're kind of an atrocity against user and victims, to me, but I know you're the madman who actually enjoyed Keelyn-killing people back in VII. If you want the summons game while also have anti-barb boosts, how about Sum/Org/Sinister? I like Caradon, Alex, and Tasunke all.

I was thinking that warrens don't work for settlers when I picked Jonas (which shows how little I play the Clan); Sheelba does seem like a better choice.
Striking Furia from the list would be fine with me; I played her pretty recently. I'm lukewarm about Rivanna; summons are pretty far down the tech tree, and Sinister isn't tremendously useful against orc barbarians. How about Illians? They have some decent mid-game power against the barbs, and one of the best arcane setups.
to Illians.
Any love for Malakim?
