Indeed. I mean, it's tough...but Thoth was my PB8 teammate. That's proof that an early lead before economy is up for it by taking all of Pin's stuff isn't a given win. But Ikhandae and Cre/Spi make for some good helpers for him...

In the end, I'm once again very very glad I went an early BW. Copper is king, man.

Or else we can just conclude Zulu are awful luck for poor Pin.
I would take that position any day.

I'm scouting my backlines a bit as Augusta is getting her tundra tiles (deer, silver) online. Brick just felt an intense urge to settle 1S of the warrior...

Holy crap. I know I need to claim eastward too, but the west keeps looking better and better. Wet corn makes that plains hill plant less "maybe" more "NOW!"

Horsies at fretensis too! Things are looking on the up and up. Hopefully thoth's successes as Zulu won't match seven's in 16, but cre is certainly better than Agg (with ikhandas, maybe it isn't actually?).

Keep pushing this awesome snowball, and I imagine pushing past the midpoint is feasible if Thoth is being hit by city costs.

Edit: that's the pH 1sw of axe right?

Yeah, basically if we have hope its because of that key term: Midpoint. Thoth isn't on his own little duel island; Dtay and I can push further on his borders, and Ox and either TBS or Gaspar must neighbor him now too. He shouldn't get two whole civs worth out of this.

Maybe great wall could be worth the hmmers with seemingly raging barbarians running around. Could even use it offensively, sending them all careening at the enemy.

Hurrah for horses! That's a tank of a city. Thinking of pushing past the midline, 1se of crabs looks like a nice defensible site. That's probably too far in the future, even for a pipe dreamer like me! lol

Well, an immediate problem is the Artist Formerly known as Compy here. Unfortunately, in six or seven turns Thoth's Creative borders will make sneaking up on the city difficult even for my c-nav self. I think I will work out something from the east, but given the zero free spreads, I'll need a trireme picket in the water soon too.

We're entering the era of individual-city planning. Legio is charged, unfortunately, with making settlers and workers for the next three cities before settling easily into the preferred Ultimate Growth Capital mode. Happily, with granary and forge (doubling silver!), Legio is beast mode. I'll whip the forge next turn and hand away the deer to Germanica as she works on forge->Colossus. Lots of production here.

What I am going to allow to grow a bit is Augusta. That silver tile is a nasty temptation, but I need to grow onto deer and cow first at a minimum. Auggie will supply a settler to the sheep spot south once its borders hit third ring. Hinduism won't spread for me, but dangit, I'll get some utility out of it.

Chariots are online very soon for some cheaper/more flexible anti-barb power.

Hey whassup, Deets! Looks like he's got a blue-glowy warrior lurking. Probably just enough XP for one promo, but there is definitely a call to watch for Woodie II shenanigans out of this bugger.

Eagle-eyed observers among you have probably spotted a dire sign in the right side of the screen...Thoth landed Sailing, because we have trade routes. eek He's got...a terrifying amount of stuff hooked. And thankfully only one happy. He offered it, but I somehow suspect it was a mistake. Or else a sop. But I've got silver and forges, I need no happiness. He's makin' me nervous, I tell yah.

Here's a picture of how far he has settled...deer, copper, and pigs are all hooked, but no rice nor the cattle. So overland, not bad, but he probably has that port spot ready. He'll soon settle an island if I know our Thoth, man loves his IC-TRs. And with seven cities, he needs 'em!
