Just FYI, I did realize bulbing Alphabet would allow for research when I said I didn't want to do it last night. But I am giving less fucks right now...

Welp, we've bulbed Alphabet in a NTT game.

Quick report for t93.
As stated, we bulbed Alphabet last turn. That development, plus organic-ish development with a focus on commerce means we should be able to tech Calendar somewhere around t98 which is a huge improvement. Here's a shot of Cockaigne doing yeoman's work.
I'm 99.9% sure we officially defogged TR to TBS this turn. Tthat should mean good things when next turn rolls. Good things to the tune of +12 cpt.
Astute screenshot observers will also have noticed we made contact with Thoth this turn:
Thoth is even with us on city count - though assuredly far ahead on developed city count. We offered him OB, mostly in the hopes to scout him.
People like to see the tech screen, so here it is. Commodore is unsurprisingly the tech leader, as he plays the same game he always plays, the plucky well-teching underdog you all love. TBS went all in on Monarchy, as you can see he doesn't even have Writing yet. He does have Masonry however, which indicates maybe he's making a crazy Mids play. I sure as hell hope dtay or Commodore manages to pluck that away. Mids is super expensive without any doublers, so I don't expect it to fall soon. Hopefully all 3 of them are wasting resources on it.
Hopefully things have started to stabilize and we can use the Settler we have on ice sometime soonish. How's a 36 pt GNP jump sound?

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of the different ways there are of killing people.
...are we still talking about Civ?
You almost made me wake up the baby!

Well deserved.
Killing a bit of time, so a little report on t94/95...
Discovering Thoth was quite a nice little boon, since he offered us a Furs for Gold trade. So in addition to TR w/OB, we get another happy cap boost. The advent of trade routes is a significant boost to our little civilization and essentially ends the dark days of stagnation. Breakeven is now up to 25% which is pretty awesome considering we were +1gpt on 0% after settling Tartarus and Hyperborea. We'll turn on tech next turn and get Calendar EOT97, which is only two turns off our original estimate before we went crazy on the settlers. Here's Valhalla, post darkest moments:
Those three riverside forests are being chopped shortly to turn into cottages to take advantage of Valhalla's newfound ability to grow.
We'll be resuming expansion shortly. After Calendar comes in, the settler we've had on ice in Shangri-La will settle the Cows/Lake canal site and then banging another settler slightly after that for the Bananas/Silk site. You can also see that Oxy beat us to razing the Barbarian city by our chariot in the SW. I think the Pigs/Gems/Horse/Rice site will probably be our next SW incursion - we'll leave the cow sharing backfill until later - with the capital shortly moving to a happy cap of 11, there's no reason to give its food away in the short term.

Logged in and did the obvious moves. Left a bunch of worker moves for us to discuss and a few unit moves.
TBS teched Writing.
Dtay is up two cities on us now I think.
Found Oxy's borders by the barb city with the chariot, we may need to settle there sooner than later.
Thoth is getting wine from TBS in exchange for Ivory.
No one has teched calendar. I set tech to 100%. We cna tech calendar in 2t at 90% so we have a cushion. We will probably have to finish it at 90% next turn.

So was bulbing Alphabet a panic mistake in retrospect or are you widely using Research builds to get the fast ETA to Calendar? I can only see the southern jungle city building Research this turn from your pics.

Both.
It probably was a suboptimal play - though I contend we had no good use for the GSci in the short term and getting an immediate benefit was worth more than it appears on the surface. We're currently building Research in 3 cities and all told we built about a turns worth of Research at 100% since we did the bulb so all told it probably shaved 4t off Calendar.
It will probably do less en route to Currency but will still help. Would I do it over again? Ask me in 15 turns.
