Quote:Druid vs mage, arena
Both our hands are apparently clogged with spells we don't want to play resulting in a bunch of small plays and trades on turns 4-6. I have a 2/5 on board on turn 7. Then argent commander shows up and charges my 29 hp face (wtf). A highly suspicious play, as this is in 5 win bracket. I drop stormpike commando and kill his argent.
His play is explained next turn when he drops Antonidas + mirror image.
Unfortunately for him my cards in hand include Faceless + Naturalize + coin + power of the wild, mind controlling antonidas and drawing 3 fireballs tongue
Mage places a Faceless too next turn, but will inevitably lose the damage race so plays Arcane Intellect and discards a couple of cards from overflow (two polymorphs show.) I fireball him twice and he shows Pyroblast on the last turn. Scary deck.
That's one of those where you get your read based on how far into the arena run you are. If it's the first game and he's doing that with his Argent, he's probably a noob. If it's on 9 wins, something very fishy is afoot!

Naxx pricing: $25 for the whole expansion, or 700 gold (or $7) per wing. And the first wing is free for the first month. Good thing I've saved up 3000 gold!

Wow, a fairly priced Blizzard expansion?

Doesn't strike me as all that well priced. Perhaps I'm not appreciating the new content enough, but $20 is obviously much more than $0 for the base game.

the cost of 4-5 packs for five guaranteed unique cards sounds reasonable to me anyway, since the majority of opened packs don't even give one playable card

I just went 11-3 with a mage deck featuring two angry chickens. It wasn't my intention to make a deck with angry chickens. The other choices were so equally terrible that I couldn't resist. I never discarded the angry chicken from my opening hand and often got off to a surprisingly good start. I think I messed up my karma in the final battle by choosing to coin amani berzerker opposite a void walker instead of turn 1 angry chicken for the lolz. Opponent buffed void walker with demonfire and I never recovered. If I had put faith in the chicken it would have protected my poor amani from the evil demon and the whole game would have been different.
On the other hand, victory #11 was truly glorious. I was up against a rogue, and it looked my arena run was coming to an end. I was down to 6 life, the rogue had 20, and I didn't have any taunts to protect me. Since I needed to clear the board with frostbolt and fire blast, I wouldn't have mana to play my stormwind champion. So I threw out the gnomish inventor and the angry chicken. Board now was those two plus a tiger and something with 3 damage. Rogue plays bluegill warrior, buffs it with dark iron dwarf, hits my face, daggers my face. 1 health left. My hand is stormwind champion, baron geddon, and something garbage. This is one of those "Holy crap do I have lethal?" moments. Motivate the troops with stormwind champ, light a fire under the chicken, and hit face for exactly 20 damage. 7/1 minion for 1 mana too good for rogue to handle.
Unfortunately my parting gifts did not include a golden angry chicken. But I did get a Bloodmage Thalnos. Like the angry chicken, Thalnos is a deceptively powerful 1/1 minion. He wouldn't have won that 11th game for me though...

7-1 chicken is awesome, it's too bad the ability is so hard to activate reliably

I've made a few decks over the course of time solely designed around making chicken work - Stormwind Champ, Shattered Sun Cleric, Argus, etc. They definitely work best with mage where you can ping yourself for the enrage.
Of course its utterly unreliable and probably has a 20% win rate but sometimes you just play for fun.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Brazil thought the same thing.
