[SPOILERS] Pindicator as Qin Shi of China - Boring Ol' Vanilla

Turn 101

Very interesting turn!

First off, dtay indeed re-settled Boyce, and offered me a laughable deal of 2gpt for open borders. Let's see, I give you something like 20cpt and you give me 2 back? Sounds great!

I countered with something a little more balanced in my favor. And honestly, something I need a bit more than a few coins right now. I give it a 30% chance of him accepting, but maybe the open border situation for him is desperate enough that he takes it. Or maybe he has another one to hook up. Either way:

[Image: pb18%20-%20turn101%20-%20dtay%20trade.JPG]

Of course this meant I had to settle for the clam/sheep/horse spot, which is still a great spot, but doesn't offer the same control of the area that my planned city would have. I couldn't think of a more apt name than to name my border cities after Trow cities

The banana/sheep location that will be Avernus. But I'm having second thoughts about putting my settler in Llancarfan there -- I think I will backtrack and go settle the fur. I need the happiness now.

And last turn we got our prize!

In 19 turns we will have either a Priest or a Merchant. The priest has an obvious use. The merchant, though... We'll have Currency in 4, so what are our other uses?

You know, a Civil Service looks doable...

Yeah, that looks very doable for 20 turns. Currency will be 4, Code of Laws about 7, Metal Casting 6. Probably less with cities growing and Currency adding on. Calendar needs to go in there too, so we can hook up all these calendar resources. Ugh, maybe it would still be better to just use it for a Golden Age and get free revolts in for Big-B, Hinduism, and OR. Then we can add a priest and an engineer to the mix after the first if we don't get a priest the first time. Or maybe add them anyway smile

Wish I had time to plan out the details of which city to settle, which workers to move, and all that. But I'll just have to spam them out and hope that works.

The next 20 turns I think are just going to be building Research, building Wealth, and building Settlers/Workers.

Turn 103

My eastern neighbors have been annoying all game. So why would I expect things to change?

Construction just got bumped up in priority. There's something like 8 archers and an axe inside that city, so I'm not going to take it down without catapults. I do have 4 swords, so all I need are a few cats and then we can start whittling down the city. I was happy to be patient before it popped borders and stole that fish, but now I need to kill that city.

Here's my city list:

Dtay is running around with a size 14 capital. I mean, I don't know it's dtay, but I know someone has a size 14 capital, and I know dtay's graphs, so i think it's a fair guess to say it's dtay. The game may already be won, crazy as that sounds. This is what happens when you let your neighbor do whatever they want

We are 2 turns from Currency. I think after Currency I need something like 4,307 techs right away:
  • Calendar - Up the happiness cap, unlocks additional food resources so i can settle more spots
  • Construction - to kill Barry with and for defense
  • Metal Casting - I'm IND, so why don't I have this yet?
  • All the Religious techs - because I spent all that effort to take a religion from my neighbor, and I need to start spreading it around myself
  • HBR - for defense / power projection

There are more, but those are the ones that I want to have right away. This makes me think more and more that if I get a Great Merchant that I'm going to just use him for a golden age. It isn't worth delaying all those religious techs so I can bulb Civil Service and then need to wait for an additional Great Person to swap civics with. So forget the Civil Service bulb idea, we'll either shrine or golden age.

Noble reminded me of something I can do to help the happiness situation now:

Sadly the weeds have overrun the fish population that the good citizens of Rhi'anon were counting on for food. They will have to find a way to live off the local clans until then

Turn 106

Currency!

Our breakeven without any Wealth/Research builds is now at 40% and around 70bpt. That was before I settled my next city, Avon's Grove, which netted me immediately profit:

[Image: pb18%20-%20turn106%20-%20avons%20grove.JPG]

I put the usual suspects on Build Wealth, so I could get Calendar in 4. After that I think I'm going to get Libraries everywhere. Unless I swap to HBR and whip Horse Archers everywhere. Why? Because this:

Seriously, it took me a second to notice, but now that I've seen what he's done:

WTF is it with all these neighbors settling up on me? Did someone put a sign on my back? How many fools do I need to put down to get some respect around here?

Yes, I think another round of whipping is due. But damnit, I really need Calendar & HBR first.
