I like all the sudden lurker action. Makes the players nervous.
Seems like Thoth that has an additional 1/2 of a dtay looks to maybe be slightly ahead of TBS now?

Plus Pyramids, according to TBS. TBS also says he's given up on Taj now...who'd you think will get it? Dtay and Commodore must be too distracted, it sounds like Thoth's tech rate is shot, and Gaspar is surely lagging too much to be getting it any time soon...so maybe Oxy? Edit: Perhaps it is too early to tell. I would wager it between Oxy and Gaspar, though Thoth could have a chance depending on how distracting this war is.
Didn't Seven do Praetorians/Cannons in PBEM39?

Nah, I defended with praetorians (and longbows and horse archers) and then attacked* with pure cuirassiers. No one got anywhere near cannons in that game as far as I can remember.
* Actual attack contingent on continued participation by other players.

It sounds like something that would be hilariously fun to do to an AI, though. I can only imagine one scenario where having cannons at your disposal would still require a swordsman to finish off killing an enemy force.
Man, I tell ya, crashing a hundred cannons into a hundred infantry and then cleaning up with rifles, muskets, maces, swordsmen, and axes, is truly one hell of a feeling.

Is anyone else very unconvinced by this? Just as people were saying "GG Thoth" as if having the most cities on turn 80 means you win the game, I think late game traits may matter, a lot. And for TBS to have none is a serious penalty.

This is a BTS game with corporations allowed and TBS is already planning around it. This map is flush with seafood resources (among other kinds as well), Sid's Sushi is going to be beastly. We may see the "win more" effect with whoever gets there first if they can exploit the corporate benefits.

A great scientist is only worth 400 gold to the MOM team? More like Dtay doesn't have a negotiating leg to stand on and Gaspar knows it.
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57

If the timing is wrong 400 gold could be a correct valuation.
I have to run.

Alternative explanation for Oxy's apparent capitulation in the east west and strong force in the west east:
1. He's got two rivals in the west east poised to take Gurton Buster the minute he empties it and its a pretty good city that he can actually hold
2. He's falling back to make a stand in the east west, letting hard-to-defend cities go (judging from TBS's latest pic it won't be that much of a stand, but its still better than letting his army get eaten bit by bit)
3. Transferring the units from GB to the east would take longer than he's got
4. That's geopolitics in an FFA for you, if you want to do something about it attack TBS and give him something else to think about
I prefer this explanation to the other theory doing the rounds, but who knows which is right?
