OK, so then what happened?

Did Gawdzak just unpause so that LP can look at the game for 10 minutes? Did you repause again, LP?

If this is going to persist (and LP's comments in the PB18 game thread hints that it will for another 2-3 months), I suggest we go to a 48 hour timer. This way there is less chance of someone having to replay their turn from a reload if the clock rolls over. It's already been established that due to unforseen circumstances, all but one of us can play in the allotted time right now (Seven only has to wait to play due to turn order issues, it seems) so I don't think this will make the game any slower-moving as long as we don't allow the extended time to make us more lax.

It will also allow more opportunity for opening players to adhere to their side of the turn timer, or at least give their opponents more time to play. Who wants to sweat out the turn timer counting down from an 1:13:00 when trying to counter an opponent's moves, especially as the game progresses? I only mention this since it has recently been brought up by two others in this thread. The opening player in a war/settlement situation should strive to end their turn as early as possible, thereby relinquishing the remainder of the clock to their opponent so they too can finish their turn and keep the game moving. The only drawback here would be if the opening player felt entitled to have the entire first 24 hours of the clock, which would not make things any more different than they are now. In fact, this is almost happening on a 24 hour clock, so this solution may be no help in our current situation.

Basically, the spirit of this proposal is to eliminate the inconvenience to Caledorn (reloading) and to other players (pausing, diplo screens, remembering micro on replayed turns); also to have everyone play the turns as quickly as possible. Sorry if this seems out of line considering everything that you are going through, LP.

EDIT: I paused the game again.

Almost is an understatement. I don't think I've been permitted to play in the first 24 hours of a turn in quite some time.

I am against lengthening the timer. We all signed up for a 24 hour turnaround. If that's not working we should get a replacement or just stop pausing.

But if we don't pause, doesn't that turn the game into a farce? Its the same issue that we're struggling with in PB18...

Yes, that's the game I was hoping to have as well. I really didn't want to come out with guns blazing since I am new here, so I tempered it a bit. But your example is exactly what I am addressing.

All I am really looking for is some closure on the drag of these last few turns (and some turn accountability), so if my post gets folks talking then I've met my objective. smile
