Sorry the point I was more making was is it worth picking a civ where the early worth is hugely tied to being agg? I'm definitely with you on not wanting to pick fin though unless is 100% necessary. It may be easier to work a civ into a leader pick. Though I am 100% sure zulu will be gone on the return, I could see hammurbi and shaka left...

No city naming theme in mind of yet. What about fictional animated towns? Like springfield, quahog, south park, new new york etc?

I've just had an idea, how about the cities in this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sta...y_capacity ? We can skip the cities that can be confusing like Barcelona if someone takes Spain or London if someone takes England. We can also take them from this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_spo...y_capacity but they will mostly be motor speedways.

This way you can use your idea for your PBEM (it's hard to find good naming themes).

Also I'm definitely going to stop thinking about leaders and civs before we get the capital, it will limit our possibilities and we'll have something firm to base our reasoning on.

Yeah, I just generally do not know whether we will be pigeon holed into picking a leader we aren't keen on playing with because otherwise we will be paying lots for reduced mait and early culture... Or even if they are expensive, now they are the same cost as normal barracks so them giving reduced mait is powerful and we just need a slightly different way to get early culture? And everyone loves an impi. It just needs some thought is all about what we would value the most.

Waiting for capital sight seems like a good idea before any further speculation. But I still think that unless there is only water food resources or something that we should try and choose based on what we want for a unit, or building, or faster moving scout for huts...

On the list, have you actually heard of many stadiums on that list? (Also do you really want to call the capital pyongyang?!) :P though a sports theme is a good idea. Perhaps limit it to world cup stadiums? A capital called soccer city amuses me a fair bit. Or we could actually name backwards from World cup years? Depends if you want geographical locations as city names. But starting with something like Brazil 2014? And working backwards? Plus for a stupid city should we ever need to plant one for a resource only we could always call it Qatar?

I agree that Pyongyang is not the best capital name, but if we limit ourselves to world cup stadiums the Estadio Azteca will be our capital (world cup final for both 1970 and 1986). If you take away most American football stadiums I know most of those on the list, but we could indeed work our way backwards in time either with world cup hosts or world cup final stadiums (Maracaña would be a nice name as well).

I was planning to watch Serbia-France tonight, but I'll be around my computer at half time and after the game. We currently have 2 crabs 1 fish 1 corn with a SIP, I'm not sure the 2 hammer spot is worth losing a crab and a fish, as well as losing the strategic value of a canal between both bodies of water. Also can you imagine that capital with a dike and Moai ? I also think that with the water start we can forget Zulu as a must have, so what about taking Shaka or Mehmet to have those cheaper workboats ? Anyway that's just food for thoughts, we'll discuss it more tonight (BTW when you say you finish at 9 I suppose you're talking GMT, so that means 10 here ?)
