All jungle in the south.

Turn 3

Truly, truly, truly outrageous.

Some people freaking out over plains hill Gold in this game. Grassland Gems are much better.

Does anyone know the mechanics to prevent jungle growth?

Build any improvement on the tile, including a road, and it will block jungle / forest growth.

Jungle can still grow on roads, although the road does lessen the chance for jungle to spread to the tile containing the road. The only sure way to prevent the spread is for any type unit to occupy the tile.

I do not know about putting a road on it, so I can't confirm or deny that. You could test in world builder easily enough. But finishing any kind of improvement or sitting a unit on the tile will prevent jungle growth. Or, not helpful here, chopping adjacent jungle tiles.

Thanks everyone!

I thought about sitting the scout on one of the resources for the next 25 turns to prevent jungle growth. But then if a jungle spread on the other resource, then this would make the spot a very weak city. I'm going to circle around the capital once at least, since finding huts also factors into this. (both Mackoti and REM popped hut techs)

Going to have to pray to the RNGesus for no jungle spread on the pig/gem, because jungle spreads are already threatening to ruin my game:

Yeah, jungle spreads are dumb. The most useful bit of knowledge I have is what Boldly already mentioned - that you can park units there to prevent the spread. Obviously not realistic for two resources at the start of a game though.

I can't say I'm a big fan of jungle growth either. Although forest growth are obviously nice. Since both mechanics are the same, gotta take the good with the bad right? shifty

Turn 5

Border pop and a hut!

I'm going to be greedy here and wait 2 turns for Mining to finish researching. The chance to pop ~15 beakers into Mining just feels really bad. Going to hopefully give myself a chance to pop either Bronze Working or Masonry.

Turn 6

Don't think anyone will be able to steal the hut.
