That is one awesome city!

But....I haven't seen anything I'd be happy with as a second city, yet. Or much of anything you'd want to settle before IW, in fact. Can I get you to send the scout westward or build a second one?

There's a lot of green but not much food to be seen yet. Obviously could be some hiding in the dark, unexplored patches, but how do you think you'll approach this from what you've seen so far? And how do you think you'll fund an early IW?

Funny you should ask...

As far as how I'll generally approach this...I just don't know; right now with borders popping it looks like "green and foodless" is the theme. The plains hill city that shares a clam with the capital out west is probably my second city; just use it as a hammer site and bang out more workers. Early sailing is going to be a must, too.

There are a number of patches in the jungle out to the east. Good bet that the jungle is full of hidden resources? It also seems like that lake is going to have to be used for irrigation purposes.

Semi-random thought: The Great Lighthouse!

It scales well with # of cities. It pays enough to help us get to Iron Working without regretting the detour away from Currency all that much. It keeps on paying until late-mid game. It's especially good in an environment with lots of cities (check!), lots of options on trading partners (check!), no talking for organized boycotts (check!), overseas trade (check!), lots of coastline to settle (check!) and RBMod for Free Market (check!). We need Sailing soon anyway, between those sea resources that cry for a lighthouse and the chance that islands are the best non-jungle settlement options.

On top, unless your scout finds some better options, we're going to have a period where pausing REX for wonder-building won't really hurt all that badly. It looks like we'll need Iron Working before we can reasonably go much beyond three cities, with what you've found so far. If not the capital, then the western city will also have a lot of hammers and be settled pretty quick. And definitely want a lighthouse as well.

I know plako's in the game, and I know he picked Roosevelt. Those would normally both argue against trying. But...he chose Sumeria. That means he's not got Fishing, probably not even a coastal capital. Our probable competition is: 2metra, Furungy, Gavagai, GermanJojo. Probably at least one of them doesn't try, and another would rather go for Colossus. That's good odds. And none of them are on the 'terrifying' list.

At least consider it, and tell me why I'm wrong if you disagree.

Definitely worth consideration! Although your neglect of Mackoti...neither he nor Plako should be discounted from the GLH race merely because they lack the cheapest tech in the game. shhh

I didn't bother posting last turn's find (more dye, natch), but although it's still not food...
