[Spoilers] PBEM 62 - Ichabod's Thread, feat. Mardoc and retep

Yeah I check the save but I normally play all my games before coming to the forum.

So I assume that one of Dazed cities expand borders, right? Or is that a new city? scared He only has 3 so I guess not.
Anyway that was pretty good timing for us, now we know THH is attacking/is going to attack Dazed.

Although yesterday I spent some time figuring out THH builds, his power went 10k - 13k- 10k - 8k(this turn) So I was thinking something like 2 axes - 1 axe + chariot/spear combination - 2 axes - chariot/spear. I'm not sure if this is useful now duh

Yeah I think that currency is a good idea especially if we keep expandig like this. Have you see the costs? Is getting scary.
A crazy idea that I had would be if we go for GLH while going for CoL through priesthood, getting caste would help a lot if we get the Mids, not to mention some courthouses would be good.

Also maybe now that some of the heat from the THH attacks is gone we could use the scout to explore the region south of the capital? I think there might be an "extra island" NE of the whales, that would definitely help i the GLH idea becomes reality.

On the topic of expansion there are some land to the East in what should have been pindicator land that we could get that we shouldn't. There is also the sugar south of GT, or do you think is to close to dazed? If he is busy at war...

Anyway I think right now we should focus in geting the Mids and maths and see how things are then.

Danm I miss Mardoc post bang

I see currency biggest selling point is being able to build wealth no the TR, calendar isn't really that great, there is only the dies(which also ned IW) and maybe the sugar. This map is small and we are SPI so MoM lose some of his appeal, is still great but no as good as in a big map.

I do see how getting more miilitary would be usefull, people don't like run aways after all trying to slot HBR is going to be awkward but I guess Ichabod would managed mischief

Agreed about some libraries, EG, LS, PPM and IG would one at some point.

Hmm, I see your point. Not that it's a bad tech, but maybe we don't need it quite that fast.

I don't think we'd need to build wealth if we get the GLH, but I don't know if I want to count on getting the wonder, either.

On thinking about it, I think Construction may be a better choice. Cats can defend against anything as long as we have a few hitters around. And it's basically on the path to Currency anyway, so if things are looking safe we can delay.

Well, writing + math seems to be the way to go no matter where we head next, so we'll have quite a bit of time to think about it.

If we had gold, Aesthetics (Paya) could be interesting... Without it, it's not so good.

We met Dazed. He's at 3 cities and has writing. I think I'll offer OB to him next turn, because THH's cities can't cover all TRs we need. Pindi doesn't have writing as of last turn and I don't want to help Commodore.

That's 3rd/4th ring borders. No way it'd take so long for 2nd ring to pop when he has Stonehenge.

---

I sent the warrior to work as a sentry. So far, so good. No units on sight and we can see that THH is expanding towards Dazed, not us. His resources indicates he's not expanding south either, since he doesn't have stone.

---

I improved the Mids micro plan so that it won't have any overflow, it'll be completed 335/335. This way, we don't waste hammers and we can squeeze more commerce and hammers out of our cities, through tile sharing.

After this turn, LS starts on full hammers duty, since we hook up stone.

---

New city. Since it is an auxiliary city, I decided to call it Milk. "With Milk" is probably a better name, so we can call it WM. WM would be a better city sooner if we didn't get Mids and Rep, but I won't complain about that. I think the future of this city is to get a lighthouse and cottage every grass (perhaps a farm or two).

---

Overview after ending turn.

We'll get ivory next turn, so EG won't be unhappy. EG will finish a settler in 4t starting next turn, the one for marble city.

PPM is also about to build a settler (less than 10 turns, faster with a whip, though I'm not sure we want to whip). Where should we settle it? On the island S of EG or on the island W of GT? The island W of GT has 2 seafood, the island S of EG just one. We can spare a whip in GT for the galley more than we can in EG or WM, at least right now. So, I'm favouring the island W of GT.

Let's see those islands again:

---

The last picture just made me realize that, after popping borders, GT still has 3 forests to chop. So, we could very well get TGLh there. I think we wait until we have Maths to chop those forests, though.

I need to sim things a bit more. I need to know how fast I can get missionaries for OT, marble city and GT. I think OT needs one first, then OT can start on missionary duty, while IB starts on infrastructure, like libraries...

Anyway, this is getting a bit ahead of myself.

---

Demographics:

As the overview pictures show, we are about to grow in all of our cities. This numbers will look way better in a turn or 2. TRs will also help, hopefully THH accepts our offer.

Graphs:

---

We could keep pushing for a steady CY increase, by whipping a lot of settlers. But, I don't think that's worth it anymore. Costs are starting to really climb and we need to fix the economy before anything else. I don't think forgoing expansion is a good idea, but doing so in a slower rhythm is best, as far as I can see right now.

Anything special the lurkers want to see in the next update?

You know what we could get as next research? Archery. Archers will be pretty good for defending islands cities and coastal cities overall. They are also cheaper to build and send a nice message that we are not just going for the farmer's gambit...

Looks good! thumbsup

Agreed here. Gotta stay balanced. We're far enough ahead on crops that we can turn some of that into other benefits. Go back to rapid expansion once we get to Knights hammer.

I'm still going to vote for building a few chariots and axes, though. 4th place Power makes me nervous. At least build enough chariots that we can finish scouting? Then leave them out as a sentry net? I like spending the effort on Archery, too.

Can I see the mids in the next update? mischief

Seriously, you've been updating well lately, there's not really anything obvious you're missing.

Regarding the Great Lighthouse, we can actually get it in 2 turns of production, if we have Judaism in GT + use 3 chops. And we only need a size 5 city.

I like this idea, so i'll prepare for it. Need to sim things a bit, but I'm guessing I'll do the following:

1. Whip a galley in GT, grow to size 5 (or more) in a WB (for the island city), the spearman and starting a lighthouse.

2. Likely whip a missionary in LS after Mids.

3. Whip the lighthouse and chop the forests into the TGLh.

Meanwhile, we settle the island W of GT. The island S of EG is ours for sure. So, we'd be on 2 island cities already, while the maximum we'd need is 4. next step is finding 2 more islands to settle.

---

We are getting some more units soon, mostly because we don't have much else to build in quite a bit of cities. There're spears being built in GT and OT, PPM will get another spear next and LS will whip an axe according to the Mids plan. These units probably get us to 2nd place in power. Problem is, 1st place has a lot more. lol
