My gut tells me we have some kind of resource on the grassland hill 1S or 2SE of our settler, maybe both.

That's a crappy spot for a hamlet. No reason to move the settler at all now. If there is copper in the BFC, I hope its on that hill and not on one of our few riverside grasslands.

I was thinking more so we could know how to make a big box to put the other players in, with a flask of poison, etc., and thus achieve our superposition before Mackoti eventually does.

You're assuming the map maker saw fit to provide uranium. Radioactivity is one the ingredients if you're going to do the box right.
