[SPOILERS]Zara Yaqob of Byzantium and the Melancholies of Gawdzak and BaII

Turn 132

Gavagai built the Great Library.

Founded Christianity in the island city of Holo,

Newest city,

That barb galley is going to be a pain.

Kill it with phracts. wink

Another barb galley showed up and pillage our fish. Had to build another trireme.

Meanwhile, Gavagai builds the Statue of Zeus. Interesting...

The 3 people on the same continent thing has been a pretty weird dynamic. If one of the players starts to gets ahead, both of their neighbours start to view them with hostility; if one of the players gets behind, they will most likely get dogpiled. Very much a "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down" situation.

I've seen undefended workers and even undefended cities on the border of Gavagai and Zanth. Yet Zanth opts to steal my workers and Gavagai always sticks an axe/spear pair on the border against me.

This "Three Kingdoms" set-up is a little frustrating sometimes.

And, covering my tracks in a separate post to gently spam your thread, I have no idea what those guys are doing and I'm not really trying to urge you to any particular course of action, this because some people get hurt feelings when even the tiniest shred of lurker commentary could have even a shadowy tinge of impact on a player's decision to do the obviously most fun thing to do in civ which is wreck face with phracts. It needed to be said, I suppose.

Lastly, because I enjoy your threads, one final comment in its own post. Fun with Phracts is not always the same as Winning at Civ. I should know... (but I don't, because PB11 never happened for me, and probably not for you or anyone else either because it never actually happened)

I didn't lurk PB11 because I'm pretty daunted by the massive number of posts in almost every thread, I don't even know where I should start! Boldy, I get what you are trying to say. I would have definitely played this game a lot differently had I not been the Byzantines. For example, I definitely would have tried to land the Music artist (still not gone by the way). In addition, war at this era is going to be difficult in this game, because everyone's positions are relatively close. Outside of a dogpile, it's difficult to succeed in war without large losses. I would say only Azza's position is significantly weaker than mine, the score leader at the moment. Retep is getting Guilds so Azza should watch out.

Perhaps the best move would be waiting until Rifles like TBS in PB19.

I'm going to make my move now, because I believe I do have a significant power spike over my opponent at this time. I have chosen my strategy and I will to try my best to make my attack succeed. There's definitely a reasonable chance that I fail and end up losing the game because of it, but if I did nothing and lost the game I would regret that much more.

A small preview of what's coming:

Unfortunately, Zanth is having computer problems and his teammate, Bacchus, also recently lost his laptop so I'm not sure when the game will be resumed again. You lurkers' going to have to wait a little more for blood.

First of all, world events:

Barteq(I'm pretty sure) founds Taoism and is researching Nationalism. Someone got a GE a few turns ago. Could be Barteq looking to rush the Taj. WLP and GJJ both started GA.

I've been building some units for war. Here's the power graph:

Then we start the war. Remember that I already have Engineering. Battle of 3rd plato:

CII Cataphract vs elephant: 79.7% WIN
CI Shock Cataphract vs crossbow: 95.1% WIN
CI Shock Cataphract vs mace: 95.4% WIN
Green Cataphract vs axe: 96.1% WIN
Green Cataphract vs axe: 96.5% WIN
Green Cataphract vs archer: 98.9% WIN
Green Cataphract vs catapult: 99.6% WIN

Battle of Archerland:

CII Cataphract vs CGI crossbow: 67.7% WIN
CI Shock Cataphract vs Spear: 73% WIN
CII Cataphract vs archer: 95.6% LOSE
CII Cataphract vs archer: 95.6% WIN
Green chariot vs injured archer: 98% WIN

Rest of Zanth's land that I can see:

What's interesting is that Zanth moved his capital from Emergentor to Void Spider. That's definitely not something I would do.

When someone steals my workers, I'll take a potato chip and eat it.
