[SPOILERS!] Grimace and wetbandit hope to stay on their side of the DMZ

It's the best-sounding combination of Ottoman & Korean I could think of.

BTW, I won't be able to take our turn until later this afternoon, like 3ish, so if you have a chance to do so before then, please do. I don't want to be the one everyone else is waiting on to finish their turn. smile

Gotcha. I won't be able to get to it before you can.

Logged in and took our turn. Started moving the scout north.

Took a shot of demos this turn because borders popped for everyone (poor lack of a creative civ).

We're still the only ones working a FPH. Someone got even more commerce, though. Rival best GNP went from 18 to 20 with the border pop.

Land area is also interesting. Best is 21000 (someone is totally land-locked), worst is 14000, one more water tile than we have. But crunching the numbers, that means there's probably just the one land-locked capital. If there was another all-land capital, there would have to be 3 more civs at 14000 and one at 15000. So most like the others are a bit of a range, with everyone having at least a few water tiles, be they coast or lakes. At least Fishing definitely seems to like it could be a good starting tech as the odds favor some kind of water resource with that many water tiles.

Everything else looks basically the same. We're halfway done with our worker and passed the halfway mark on Hunting.

I just noticed crop yield...how is someone at a 7 already? Even if they settled on a food resource for 3f that means they'd have to work a 4f tile...how does that happen? I know the random improvements aren't supposed to be in the first 3 rings of the start position, so how do you do that?

With 7 food, someone is working a fish tile (or a crab/clam and settled a 3f capital). I would bet that is OH/Adriener, exp hammers into a workboat and started with fishing. I wonder if they will grow or go straight into a worker. This is only T5, right?

Yep, T5. It's probably better to grow to size 2 before building a worker because that would allow them to work the fish for 5f plus their 3h FPH and get the worker expansive bonus. Just working the fish they don't get the EXP hammer bonus to workers, but it is better than working even an FPH. But if you get both....that's 13 foodhammers/turn, which gives you a worker in 5 turns. With just the fish it would be 9 foodhammers per turn, or 7 turns. They'd have 10 food stored as of this turn, which means if they build a warrior (or another workboat) they would grow to size 2 in 2 turns...so same amount of time if they go straight to a worker, but they have an extra pop point and a partial warrior build.

Does that math look right?

Moved the scout...definitely no land bridge to the SE. Next turn I'm thinking back onto the hill 1S of the corn, then SE the following turn. What do you think?

Demos have not changed since the previous screenshot.

from hangouts: "i should post in the thread for obvious post count reasons"

Yep. I think SE or NE-E into the plains forest.

Turn 7

Moved the scout and realized I hadn't posted a full screenshot from when our borders popped and exposed some things.

Also, demos from this turn. 3 civs got a 6 point score increase from 32 to 38.

I'm guessing since the only thing that changed was average soldiers those three civs discovered a tech, probably Hunting or Wheel?
