[SPOILERS] Elum & mackoti; the tiles are always greener on the other start...

You need both, and if you dont have what to do with workers then potery, if you have AH.simple as that.

Thanks. I'm going for AH. It will delay granaries but I'm just going to try and grow my cities on to mines then build granaries so I can efficiently whip off extra pop. In the mean time I will chop and mine.

SH next turn. Could be a coinflip but I doubt anyone else is building it. Any lurkers (I flatter myself, me? lurkers? Ha) know of any dramatic/game damaging loss of SH? This early it would be quite a setback.

The next city is coming up, well the preparation is anyway so I need to get my workers into position. I've made a shortlist and my thoughts.

I've tried to grab as many resources as possible with this city and medium term it takes advantage of all the river grassland outside the capital. Sharing the crabs seems good use of workboat hammers. No good long term prospects though.

This site brings in the most new resources and the highest yield. Being able to lighthouse the lakes would be nice but not relevant to early game efficacy. On second thoughts maybe settle 1 west of the cows as to sneak a city in 1 south of the sheep at a later date. But plains cows are not food; it could produce a couple of warriors while growing to size 2 and borders popping for sheep. Growing on to lakes could be nice early commerce and I like settling in the direction of what looks like a choke between me and an opponent (and silver!).

This will be a nice city one day but it seems quite far to settle for now. Good amount of forests make it a possibility, it could grow using cows while dropping chops into more foodhammer units. There is a patch elsewhere with a load of forests for potential wonders so I wouldn't mind burning these.

I think one on plain hill be good you could evena work boat ready for the city so to have food upon setling.

Cool. My thinking too.

I built SH this turn. My first wonder ever!

State of the empire.

The settler from the capital will head to the plains hill spot which is now being roaded by workers to allow a quick settle and a trade route, this will make the city gold neutral. The worker on the hill will improve the grass sheep and the other worker will probably chop in the capital for another settler.

Here I'm not sure about slavery. I could double whip a settler in the capital straight after this one, and after the other city has completed some warriors and grown to size 3 it could whip a worker at 30/60. The thing is that city will take ages to grow back. Is it worth whipping then growing on warriors then granary? At size 4 with 2 mines it could make 15h a turn.

Mack, what do you think my priorities should be right now?

Horse.

How does this look for the city after? I'd like to get some barb busting chariots out. Is it OK to still be prioritizing expansion over cottages? At this rate the first cottages will be ready around t55.

Grimace borderland.

I've finally found a border with someone! I'm not sure how much of a priority settling in his direction is though. A natural border seems to be around the desert tile by the horse. But I don't want to give him an easy time.

Grimace's land.

Sorry about the shoddy reporting but real life and all that.

State of the Empire:

Things seem well, just settled that new city. I think it was a bit early but I made the decision to whip the settler when very hungover and had to deal with it. Having more cities than workers is a bad idea I think! Generally I'm trying to cottage the green river and floodplains then whip settlers after. And build GLH/mids.

Mack I'm teching writing instead of sailing. Do you think this is the right move? I was thinking to concentrate on the mids and getting math but do you think I should get GLH and so tech sailing next/now?

See potential island holdings:

Current Events:

Didn't notice this crack in the mountains till my scout found it this turn. Should have noticed the barbs poring through it banghead
Seems like I'm terminally under defended, I've not connected the copper so as to build a load of cheap warriors but now I'm feeling sketchy.

mackoti, think I should connect copper ASAP?

Next city site:

Hoping to have the floodplains cottaged for when the city is settled. The forests will be for the next big wonder.

Potential border with wetbandit:

I don't know where to establish a border really. We'll see how things develop.

From my experience with barbs you should conect cause facing 20% oddds for barsb is not good.I seen a someone has a wariour near us,I think you should take a 50% on that wariour and wait for the other to move first to see were he movesand aand if you loose you can use that one as well to clean it.Or maybe wariour will atack city, dont know soemtimes they atack other times not.
getting math fast is good, you need to consider how much is worth mids, if is worth more then glh asue you cant chasde both becasue of costs.

As people may have read in the tech thread I may not have computer access for a week or so. Still yet to find out but I will know by this evening (gmt).

I hate to say it but is there anyone who might play my turns for me? I have the micro for building the TGL and some other micro already worked out. The empire is small so the turns don't take long to play.

Mackoti I'm not asking you directly because I don't think that is fair, don't feeling obligated to cover for my mistake, I thought things always slowed down for Christmas around here but I guess not.

Regardless of whether you want to play the game turn do want to have a look around the civ? I've been growing the new cities onto cottages and will be settling another soon, I will have a lot of pop to whip and I'm not sure how/if to spend it. Also what do you think of calander? I've got 3 calander happiness nearby, better to go for monarchy?

I decided to go for the GLH because it fits with SH, it would allow me to settle more land faster without hitting my tech rate as bad and once trade routes pick up carry me into the middle game. And there is loads of land I want to settle.
