I see what you mean about the culture. I had forgotten Cre was only 1cpt too.
I've simmed out a little bit toward settling city 4. I was planning on finishing that cottage and working that and the mine this turn to finish the warrior. We don't need the extra worker turn for city 3, it would give us 3 free worker turns for city 4(without the 3rd worker helping), which is enough to road the hill for the city site, but there's not much point in that if we can't start the sheep immediately.
I moved the newly built warrior NW to head toward the gems, we need to deal with that lion. I worked the cottage and mine as mentioned to complete another warrior.
Was Boudica Welsh? We sure have a lot of sheep.
The lion didn't follow us again down south, so the warrior got a chance to heal.
Do you think we should send the warrior that just pillaged to deal with the lion, since it can get there on defensive terrain? (And send the new warrior to city 3.) Actually, right now, I guess the former pasture tile is a great place to leave that warrior, as he prevents any nearby barb spawns.
I guess it's a bit risky to send the warrior up through the jungle if our workers are going through the other path. Maybe we should just send the 2 newly built warriors up through the northern pass and double team the lion if necessary?
We found someone else. We even bothered to declare war on them this time.
What can we tell about Yuri? Well, our GNP has gone up by 2, so he knows Writing. He's still on 2 cities, his second city has no culture source so that must be his capital and he has about 5 pop between them.
Those islands are going to be interesting to contest, and I was already thinking about settling the Ivory/Fish one ...
As you can see in the first shot, I moved both new warriors north. The eastern warrior moved back along the fjord and the southern warrior continued to heal without any feline harassment.
Here's a sim over the next few turns. I'm not too sure about what the second city is doing. At the moment I'm whipping a settler for the SW fish spot, but it could use a bit more worker help.
Working the plains hill over the dyes cottage here. I'm not too sure about that, I still feel a bit more beaker deprived than hammers at the end of the plan, because I'd like a fast Sailing and Meditation.
Start the grass cottage at Bombix and the mine for city 3.
Complete the mine for city 3, start a WB as the capital grows.
Complete the road to city 3 before founding it. Start roading toward city 4. Capital works grass forest over mine to grow 7->8 quicker.
Southern worker starts roading toward city 5. Pick up the mine in the capital.
Pop one of the workers onto the hill where we're founding city 4. Realise we need Fishing before Maths for city 5. WB has a bit of extra time to explore.
Move free worker(who was roading to city 4) onto plains forest by the capital, where he roads over the next 2 turns.
Complete the road on the hill, allowing a worker to put a turn into a road on the sheep.
Newly built worker starts cottaging roaded forest. City 4 founded and sheep begins to be pastured.
Found city 4. Location is debateable. Free City 4 worker moves to the forest.
Here's the last turn. Capital workers complete the chop+cottage job. We could have 2/3 of a Lib instead of that axe. In fact we have too much overflow into a settler here, so something has to be changed. Tours, I'd be thinking of having 1 worker cottage the tile 1S while the other mines the hill and try to wait for a miss to pop borders. Or we could just 2->1 whip a monument. City 3's borders will pop next turn and we have 3 workers available to road the wheat, though we only need 2. Rheims gets a chop in next turn and can immediately 2->1 whip the granary. Seems like we have enough workers in the area to then get the gems online in time.
Mack completes Stonehenge, Yuri founds his 3rd city. I started exploring down here again, since I figured the plains hill forests are safe enough, and we'd get a promo if we ran into the Lion. Going to make contact with Dreylin next turn.
Scout found some more rivers.
Asterix 3 whipped the settler, and I decided to work the mine over the cottage. Bombix grew to 3, where it can pick up the grass cottage next turn. I moved the worker onto the forest to cottage the river grass next turn. That's a strong tile to work, and I think it's worth the wasted worker turn to get it up 2 turns earlier.
I'm sort of liking the idea of 6->4 whipping a worker in Bombix instead of another settler, still thinking about it. The most immediate decision to make is going to be what to we're slow building in Asterix next though; Library, warrior(copper not connected yet) or WB. I think we should go ahead with the WB anyway for scouting purposes, even if we weren't considering settling the fish spot next.
He has two cities, his second city is size 4 and is actually on the top 5 screen instead of his capital. I healed in place with the warrior so we could get a promo from the lion. Just take C1 I guess?
The scout found some nice stuff, though the Fish, at least, will belong to Yuri:
I stacked our 2 warriors outside our borders to react to the Lion's next move. If he comes forward then we can attack for more xp. If he retreats, I think we can wait another turn before advancing, and hopefully meet him on better terrain.
