[No Players] Lurker thread, to lurk and chirp

I can't account for Gawdzak with IMP and GLH not having thrown down many, many more cities on those islands near him. They're out there, waiting to be found, and cost so little to get up. His distance from his nearest neighbors early in the game should insulate him from much harm, so just throw down some cheap cities and grow!

He hasn't really posted much in the way of an empire shot or where he has explored, so I don't know how to account for him not taking more land than he has.

Gavagai is competent and can hold a grudge. Mack will have to work to wipe him out. I think dtay will expand to a strong position and eventually eat team 0T4E/Dreylin/2mn. They haven't really impressed me in this game. He has as good a shot as any, but something tells me plako is sandbagging the reports a bit and will have something to say before it's all over.

I love GJ's thread and position. I considered him in my prediction above...

I havent seen jojo prove he's got the tactical skill to close the deal. The same factor influenced me taking mack over gavagai for regional dominance. Joey is decent, but... uncreative? I hope he proves me wrong! I just think if Dtay, Mackoti and GermanJoJo win their regional battles and fight it out in the end, jojo will be fried potatoes.

Yep. He's leading in city count according to GJ's last post. He has one path to expansion (through Commodore) and can focus on that, but that will be a slog.

I'd bet on dtay. Mackoti is over-exaggerating his own weakness, but both he and Gavangi are crippled by the seeming inevitability of major conflict between them, and neither will fall easily (I'm not certain Mack has ever even gone down at all, in any game).

Commodore doesn't have enough land to compete, has no easy avenue for expansion besides some tiny islands (which really sucks, given how large this map is) and has the worst neighbors of anyone in the game.

German Jojo has the potential to grow quite large, but his empire will be a real pain to hold and he occupies an undesirable central map position.

Plako has a lot of land, but significant swaths are of poor quality. He is also likely locked into a death struggle with Commodore.

As everyone else has noted, Gawdzak probably ceased contesting the game when he apparently inexplicably stopped expanding.

Dtay will have to fight Portugal, but I think they'll go down much more easily than someone like Gavangi or Commodore. Portugal is unfortunately badly pressed for space.

The rest aren't contenders.

That's the problem for dtay and mackoti. Their (primary) opponents won't roll over and die easily, unless Commodore gets skewered on both ends by dtay and plako. He dies hard and Gavagai holds a grudge to die as hard as he can. Furungy isn't putting much into this and REM/Adrien will probably produce at least one more head-scratching attack before it's all over, then they'll be gassed and get steamrolled by a counterattacking Joey. Land tells the story and he'll have three civs' worth, at less expense than mackoti or dtay. Or plako for that matter, because he has to go through die-hard Commodore.

It should be interesting, eventually.

REM/Adrien are def. totally screwed, but I wonder if attacking German Jojo like right now is actually a decent move- they can't possibly compete with him in the long-term, might as well hit him now, when the bulk of his army is on another continent and they're roughly at tech parity.

At most they manage one raze. They can't hold anything longer than 1-2 turns. They expose their stack, get it wiped, then open the door to an invasion once their collateral is gone. They don't really have any good options, so it just depends on what kind of death they want. Slow, grinding universe expansion type where they lose by economy and better units or fast, go out in a ball of fire by dying in a counterattack.

I think the second one is more interesting. MOAR BLOOD now >>>>>> some blood later.

Probably should have thought of that before logging in the first time... I think the first half would be reasonable. Maybe send a quick message saying the play after them last turn was a few mins to end the turn?

I agree with the other ideas though.

Can you send the message ?

Fuck that, you can't double move someone just because you "thought about declaring war last turn" but were "discussing your options" and thus, did not. Furungy takes like 22 hours to play every fucking turn, its not like you have a shortage of time here. One turn matters a huge deal for me, its the difference of at least 7 or 8 more troops at the choke pulled in from other garrisons to absorb collateral.

It sounds like they moved all the relevant units before GJ played last turn so it's not a double move, just a tardy end of turn. Can we tell him that?

It also sounds like they're paying no attention to Civstats, but at least they're on the right side of the turn split with Furungy alright.

Edit: I'm stupid, I misread civ stats. It looks like they played the bulk of their turn before GJ, and then logged in for a 2 minute turn. The bulk of their war stack looked like it was in place on T153.
