To throw another option into the mix, how about restarting clean and removing all huts from the map?

I think it is a bit premature to say we have to scrap the game since everyone here is still engaged enough to try and save it. If we start fresh with Espionage On, Elkad stays and hopefully Thoth will be appeased by being granted the earliest consensus victory in RB history.
Then, considering what we have just gone through ( and since we are starting fresh anyway), lets have all 12 players revote on whether to keep huts in PB 24.5 or not. This suggestion is not meant to start another long discussion about the merits of doing so, but simply have the players reconsider the option.
What does everyone think?

It sounds a lot better when you say it. Maybe people will answer now.

Well now I'm confused. This whole problem came up only because we agreed to play with espionage on, but accidentally started a game with it turned off. Aside from some Thoth having better-than-average luck on hut popping, the huts haven't been an issue. Why is there suddenly a movement to turn off huts? Are people just changing their mind about wanting them on?
Calling Thoth the "winner" and starting a new game just seems silly. It's not like there's a prize involved here. Either restart, or don't, but there's no reason to pick a winner.
And really.. didn't we already decide? After I changed my vote, it's 6-4 in favor of restarting with espionage on, delete the huts people popped and give them the same results they got. Xenu has agreed to make the map changes (thanks Xenu!) and Pindicator says he wants to sub in for JoJo (thanks Pindicator!), and Elkad will keep playing. People can either work suboptimal tiles to make up for the prereq bonus, or we can just let it go since an extra 6 beakers probably won't matter at all.
What's the problem?

Again I'm not involved, but IMO you can't change the rules of the game by a simple majority vote.

I am fine with that, Luddite. But I am also interested in keeping the game moving and not wasting any more of Xenu's time. It was also made as a response to Krill to show that there were more options than to scrap the game entirely. My suggestion was only to vote on the huts quickly as a way of possibly keeping JoJo in the game. But if pindicator has chosen to sub for JoJo, we no longer have a problem. For the record, pindicator spoke up after my initial post.
So we either vote on huts for a fresh restart, or agree to proceed with the original tech gains in place. I really don't care about the extra beakers either, to be honest.

That is also an option, and possibly even a fairer one than any others. But that's up to the players really. I would, personally, prefer to play in a non-hut game. But even with huts on the KTB levels off the real benefit gained from hut pops that give techs in the RtR mod, so it's not really that big of a deal here.

The first problem is that a decision has not really been made yet, and I haven't seen this much activity in a tech thread here on RB for a long time.
The second problem is obvious in the fact that even with a 6-4 majority, you are looking at losing players. The suggestion of removing huts altogether is not a bad one in terms of fairness, that may also retain players in the game as they know noone else will get the benefits of huts popping techs.
My point in posting was quite simply as follows:
* A decision needs to be made.
* Said decision needs to try to avoid losing any players.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"

I actually make my pick thinking that huts were on and thanks to that I could get away with it.

Again, there will be no KTB until ~60 turns into the game, at least, and even then it is only 2% per player with the tech, so you're looking at an extra beaker or two per turn at that point.

AFAIK noone has said they're going to drop out if we restart with the proposed fix? If they are, speak up I guess.
