That first pick.
I'm more open to mehmed now since i dont think starts are mirrored. I didnt see that as official so we could be assuming it since that pick has to be based on starting techs. Cant really figureout if other players have starts that get faster wonders. We play last and there are three leader picks after us. If we pick bismark and another player picks IND, high chance of losing races since we play last and in pbems the player first in turn order wins ties. Yossirian let me know what you think as well. Need to build new sandboxes but exp/org seems 95% certain

The formula for Tech Costs is Technology Cost = FLOOR (FLOOR (FLOOR ( Base Cost * ( Difficulty Modifier + 0.5 * # of teammates)) * Map Modifier) * Speed Modifier)
I pulled this from my C&D thread in the last ISDG (actually for this formula I just quoted someone else's thread).
I need to see about finding those modifiers. In the ISDG, difficulty was emperor for a 1.2 modifier, world size was large for 1.4, and speed was normal for 1.0, so the formula was base*1.2*1.4. A small monarch quick game will have much cheaper tech costs. i'll get back to you when I can dig up those numbers.

I'm pretty sure the starts are mirrored:

I've been working on a cylindrical setup where every player is isolated, but if toroid or flat (like PBEM 21's doughnut) are preferred that's fine. I'm looking at something certainly smaller than the *vast* recent spate of Pitbeese, but slightly larger than the 10 cities per player average as well.
Anyway, I like Mehmed as my first choice, so I say we go ahead and lock it in.

oh oops missed that. In light of the information, their pick is quite questionable.

Mardocs pick expected. Predict they will go oracle, mc and get zigs as well. i think due to low # of trees they will forgo henge which means we have a shot. 2 whip overflow with 3 chops can do it. Now considering BO of worker, warrior, worker, settler, worker, chop granary, 2 whip setler into henge
Zara defintely wont go for henge and carthage would be too behind in tech to try it
Edit 4 chops
