Well, right now I'm thinking about just piling on to Plako by default post-GA...

Busy and eventful weekend, too busy to properly report. Mea culpa. But it's okay, because here I am now! And for a quick-and-dirty reference, here's where we are game-wise! frown

Try not to weep too hard but I'll understand if you do.

Krill's brief subbing has segued into Donovan Zoi now at China's helm for good, while Gawdzak is seeking his own sub now. Dtay's secret war on any potential rival is going well. We're sure as heck not his rivals. I waffled a bit on firing a turn 166 golden age; as you can see here Storm Front looks at a t167 great person with 50-50 odds on him being non-GSci or GE.

Ottawa would have this game won by now.

But it's Free Market. Plus other events bias me for quickness. In the end? Just not really worth it to delay, I hate to say.

Could have been Taj Mahal or Kremlin or Pentagon, but tech just ain't going to be there.

Gold per turn is doubled, nice. The buffs to Free Speech and Mercantilism were very much needed, because Free Market is frankly ridiculous. Our most miserable, worthless, marginal cities (hi, Bombshells) get decent trade route cash, while the bigger ones are up to 20gpt easily.

Inspiring city. Hope the Incan riflemen enjoy it.

Here's something that influenced my decision; Plako fired himself a golden age as well. He didn't go nationhood or slavery, but did go Free Market and Pacifism. That means he's not going to be well able to respond to an offensive launched nowishly. So let's pray that Dtay would rather fight his bigger border buddies in his east and launch an offensive against Plako. yikes

Nicely done Dtay! You are officially the scarier of two neighbors when the other neighbor is Plako.

Trying to get a little bit moving, I am debating on how I want to push forward. For right now we have ships in the inner sea and Plako doesn't, so tying down troops here while making the main push is certainly likely. The arms race we've been on has successfully dragged us both into the third world, seems a pity not to use it.

Kill, ingress point, kill.

...we sure as hell need to do something now, because later I am quite assured we will be able to do nothing at all. These are your golden age demos, class.

Dat crop yield, though.

I would have so much rather have gone east but thanks to Plako's inflexible diplo rules there is no way to signal it, no way to give cities for peace, no way to DoW-peace unto mutual profit. So these party favors have to go north:

Nuts.

One funny thing; I've been saving up some last-minute whips, and I hit them all before revolting Caste System. But as a result, civstats looks terrifying right now.

Nicely done, looks like you planned a bunch of whips to get vassalage bonus while not in vassalage at the time of the whip...

But whips in a golden age? Appearing to be insane is the truly terrifying part.

Heh, it's a bonus. QUAKE THOSE BOWELS, VICTIM!

To be honest in those cases its mostly specialists where I don't plan on ever squeezing out a great person. Ain't no hard and fast rules in civ.

Not intended as a spoiler because, well, mostly absent reporting. More as a general observation over several games...

I'm pretty sure that not invading plako is one of the few hard and fast rules. It just isn't done. There's probably a reason for that. neenerneener

Now don't you go and call off the fun or else someone will argue endlessly that a lurker has ruined the game. Or maybe you were actually bluffing and now a lurker has goaded you into a war you didn't actually intend. Or maybe you knew a lurker would take the bait and call for blood...WIFOM!!! contemplate

Boldly, you don't have to worry about influencing me. Now, Plako landing Optics, that might influence me. Sigh, why couldn't we get the nice neighbors? Gavagai is certainly enjoying having Donovan replace Mackoti.

Gavagai, Gawdzak, GermanJojo...all the Gs trying to catch up to Dtay.

Power says...might be able to make some noise and snipe something, but grinding is how war will out here.

Ninja, you might want to pucker that sphincter...

So here I am, looking at Larak and pondering invasion. I can bring a good ten or eleven units to bear with a drop-off and pick up, and the second wave gets amphibious. But a single caravel will screw this all up nastily. Or, you know, a couple reinforcing longbows if Plako wants to be lazy.

Because Plako surely won't be able to save a city with two turns to react, right?
