Ok changed the eastern builds to pikes.

Yeah a knight rush could have lost us the city next turn possibly. Do not want to do that! I think we have a fair chance of holding MCG. He might ride around and raze our lovely cottages frown not much we can do for that...

I have a plan. It may not work, it will not save MCG and will most likely hasten the destruction of our empire, but it would be a cool way to leave the game.

Here's GJ's defenses, next turn 2 of the knights and probably the numid too will leave. I don't think he'll leave the city too empty but it won't be a great defense stack. The plan is to send our knights around his stack and burn the city behind him, and then maybe wreak havoc in his back lines. But it can't be done next turn because we can only get our units on the incense tile, some of the other units could hit us before we reach the city. Now if (and that is a big if) on the next turn (so t164) he advances too far inside our territory, too far to fall back, we could then march to the incense tile, then to the hill and then to the city. I suppose he's building units now, and maybe even retreating his Furungy stack to the mainland, but we may have a small window right now to damage him. If this works (pure speculation) we may even get a peace treaty giving us time to get more pikes ready.

In any case we can send all the knights after his 1-mover stack to do some damage

Hmm it is an audacious plan... The issue is that hill. It means that we need 3 moves to reach the city, not 2. If he was worried about the stack size he could dry whip 3 pikes, one in 3 cord and 2 in the other cities and move them all into 3 cord before an attack. We are best holding our own and trying to make it as expensive as possible to kill us. Also giving him large WW with our diffuse empire on the other part of the map.

If that hill weren't there I would have agreed to go for it!

I think you should take a look in the game, I put research on gunpowder because I think we're not going to build a single university ever, while we might want a musket eventually. GJ is covering his tracks pillaging roads in our territory to avoid the kind of plan I proposed, but now I think we should pillage our cottages near MCG. 1) it gets us gold to use in research or upgrades, for a few more turns of 100% research, 2nd it doesn't give them a top class territory which, added to their own land, would definitely make them win the game. So I think this turn we should send our knights to pillage some of the hamlets (we're not even using them all right now, and we're not using the quarry either) and maybe even the plantation. We can always pillage the clam with a ship later on. Then I was wondering if you thought it was worth it to try a naval landing with the galley we have in the north (packed with the mace and sword we have there) and our 2 triremes. I know there are 2 GJ triremes near there too.

No worries I can do shortly. I have an hour or so before the night shift to civ. yeah I agree that unis are an unlikely build for us.

Not too sure about the pillaging plan - I did think about pillaging myself but I thought it is perhaps a bit spiteful - you don't actually get any gold from pillages within your own territory.

I'll look in and see shortly.

Ok made us get a few more pikes and was a little more aggressive with the whip, but little else that I can think of to help really. I promoed the knights in case he tried a hit this turn. Pulled the maceman from the west to help also. A naval landing might work if we can catch him sleeping and not garrisoning MCG with enough after taking it.

I didn't raze the cottages, but if you think we should then you can head back into the game and do so.

Oh I thought the pillage gave you gold. Well no reason to do so then. Or we can wait till he takes the city and THEN pillage everything. That would really be spiteful play.
