Since a game with more players didn't result from this attempt to start a new game, Caledorn and Grimace signed up to play one together against some AIs. This is, therefore, a comp stomp game. Since they're playing it as a pitboss, I'm calling this Comp Stomp Pitboss 1 (CSPB1). The setup:
Team1: Suleiman (PHI/IMP)/Rome [Grimace], Willem(CRE/FIN)/Ottoman [Caledorn] | Fishing/Mining/Wheel/Agriculture
Team2: Churchill(CHA/PRO)/Natives, Louis (CRE/IND)/Maya | Archery/Agriculture/Fishing/Mysticism/Mining
Team3: Pacal(FIN/EXP)/Inca, Catherine (CRE/IMP) Greece | Archery/Mysticism/Agriculture/Fishing/Hunting
Team4: Hammurabi(AGG/ORG)/Viking, Isabella(SPI/EXP)/India | Archery/Fishing/Hunting/Mysticism/Mining
It's a 2 v 2 v 2 v 2 format against the AIs, on emperor difficulty. This isn't designed to be one of our old school single player Epics, although if there is interest in a cooperative Epic style game I'm sure one could be arranged at any time (sign up...wherever you want to! ).
We can consider this the players' game thread, so Grimace and Caledorn, here are your starts:
Grimace - Suleiman of Rome
Caledorn - Willem of Ottomans
Go forth and ! Last to stomp a comp is a rotten egg.

Thanks a bunch for map- and match-making for us, Xenu!
We decided to try to do a bit of a mix-and-match economy, with Cal running a full-on cottage economy (unmodded BTS Financial) and me running a specialist economy. I have no idea how this is going to turn out, but it ought to be a lot of fun!
As this is going to be Cal and I's thread to post our updates, it may be a good idea to create a separate lurker thread for any lurker comments/rants/insults. Since we're not playing an MP game, we'll be able to look at it -- I just think having one thread for everything will get too cluttered. Then people can offer advice and comments that we can respond to without cluttering up things here. Hopefully a board admin can do that for us?

Okay, so this should be interesting. We're fairly close to one another, and being on teams it means that we share beakers. That means all techs are 2x the usual cost (this also goes for the AI teams - I hope they have the sense to agree on what they're researching...), and that we need to make agreements on research goals to be at our most efficient play.
The map has blessed me with 2 huts near my capital. One of them is 2NW and the other one is 2NE. Just outside the initial BFC. *stares at Xenu* So I guess I'll just have to pop them and hope for the best...
Because of the animal food sources, we decided to go Hunting->AH first. We're also using BAT/BUG mod, so everyone is free to make oodles of fun of us for that.
Oh - and we actually managed to successfully fix Firewall problems! That's a first!
Apparently we may go AH first, and hope we get Hunting from a hut. Grimace likes to be funny.

Turn 0 - Musicians
Yeah, I convinced myself (and Cal) that skipping Hunting for now and going directly to AH will be better. That way his worker will be able to immediately pasture the pigs next to his capital which will get his growth going faster.
Anyway, here's what our cities look like in relation to eachother right now:
I have a hut N-NE of my capital, but I'm going to let my borders pop it to guarantee a positive result. Cal, unfortunately, doesn't have that option with his.
And here is a picture of Jimi Hendrix, the capital of the Musician empire.
I'm building a work boat first...I was actually a bit conflicted about it...work boat or worker? Since it's not Fish (which is an automatic ALWAYS work boat), it wasn't as obviously beneficial, but since I can get a WB in 8 turns, 4 turns faster than a worker, it will kick-start my growth a little sooner so I think that is the best option. I could sim it, but frankly this isn't going to be that type of game.
I expect we will play the next several turns tomorrow, but for now, feel free to comment on our choices and rant about how idiotic we're being.

Also, to provoke some discussion, Cal, any early wonders you think we should shoot for? GLH probably wouldn't be a huge benefit on this map since we'll have a lot of interior cities. Pyramids might be worthwhile, though. Do we share benefits from wonders, I wonder? Oracle would require a detour through the religious techs, which is less important with your creativity, though I'll need monuments or a religion sooner or later. Great Wall would help with barbs, but we're hopefully not going to do a lot of fighting in our own borders against the AI.

I do not believe we share wonder benefits - at least not the specific ones like The Pyramids. I can easily find out though.
The 'mids would probably be very nice for me (well, for you too obviously), as I can use Representation for an added effect on my planned cottage economy. It would need some careful planning though, with Louis as an AI. He's crazy about wonders...
Other than that you definitely want MoM. Like, definite definitely.

Take a look at the Pitboss 6 writeups, there's a lot of information in those threads involving teamer mechanics. I can't remember which threads offhand, but I know there was discussion about shared wonders somewhere.
IIRC some wonders have civ specific effects (MoM?) and others are team wide, but not sure which is which. Obviously that makes some wonders much more valuable for you and you'd want to seek those out.

Like Xenu wrote, some wonders are civ specific, while others benefit everyone on the builders team. An example is Pyramids which only benefits the builder, while Stonehenge would provide free monuments for both of you.
I guess all these team games I play with Mukha have some use after all...
