Old_Lion's Sidars - Getting rid of noisy neighbors [game 2 SIV Old_Lion vs Q]

[SPOILISH Thread]
That's it !

We Sidars were perfectly fine with Ice age.
Silence. Quietness.
Nice state of affairs.

And now it is Spring.
You'd guess : green grass, flowers, little bird tweets, april rain, etc.
Very acceptable.

But no : there are those guys. Those noisy guys ! The Lanum.
They sing, they cry, they shout, they fire canons, they run after girls,, they Blowmedown, they Blimey they Hey-ho, they Ahoy !
That's just unacceptable. We are going to do something about it.

Ok,
I'm Old_Lion.
I'm French, so my phrasing can be strange sometimes. Don't hesitate to correct, I need to improve my english.
Also, I'm not a great strategist or planner. I did not play ffh or civ IV for a long time. I'll play an imperfect game.
Q, My opponent is a long time player, and did work on the mod, so I guess he must be robust.

- So any lurker is welcome to offer any non-spoiling comment on what I could and should do. I may or may not follow advices, but they are always welcome. I'd like to become better at this.
- I'll probably do stupid things and lose. I can live with that. I'll do my best to win though.
I tend to play to the bitter end, even against AI. If I should surrender because I lost all possibilities to win, just tell me it is time.

- I chose Sidar. I believe they are not considered a strong Side. But I like them because I used to play them a lot a few years ago. Trying not to fall in the waning trap.
I'll do my best to play according to my perception of their lore (I'm totally not a ffh2 lore expert). Ideas welcome.
I did not choose a leader yet. Used to be Sandalphon but I'm not sure about this modmod settings effects.

If some people feel like finding how they are affected by Erebus in the balance, I'm interested. I did not find a lot of details (yet ?).

I made a short trial, and the "divided soul" does not seem to work. Is there some trigger for the divided soul spell to be available ?

I'll try to post pictures and comments every time something of interest occurs.

The Sever Soul spell requires Knowledge of the Ether, but should be usable by any Recon type unit. The Call Form spell requires that the summoning unit be able to move into the tile containing the severed soul (i.e., it can't be cast when the severed soul is on a mountain or over water).

OK. The Sidar it is.
here is the starting position.
It is an hall of mirror, so the pirae boys have the same (maybe with pearls)

You'll notice 2 things :
1- there re lairs. and oh boy, there are a lot of lairs.
I asked for them because I wanted some random part (I'm not sure I can beat Q without luck), but that"s an awful lot of lairs.
I need to imagine something to prevent opening by Lanum.

2 - The starting position, by a salted lake. Foe is Lanum frown
No fresh water.

I think I may have to move. visible fresh water is 3 turns from here, so I might settle for a 2 or 3 north move and settle.
any thought ?

I think you should consider moving to the spot next to corn cow and clam. It's annoying to move but you get access to the corn for growth which you need for specialists. You'll be in range of the clam for commerce.

I'd say beeline message of the deep while getting agriculture first. Being philosophical you should be able to beat Lanun to it and being industrious means that you build tower of complacency faster. Not to mention that trmple of the overlords gives a sage slot which works well for sidar.

Well, the place you point is nice, but it is something like 5 turns away.

I'm not sure when the animals and barbarians will pop in quick speed, but I think losing 5 turns might be a problem in that regard.
There is also the possibility to go on the forest next to the upper clam.
no catte but meh.
Exploring more is another possibility

in terms of tech path, I guess you're right.

I think you're right, the circled forest within 2 plots of corn or one above it depending on what you scout. Having the corn and clam will give you plenty of room to grow with your specialists.

Yes I think you need to beeline oo and then priesthood. Cultist Tsunami is still way too powerful and if you use it against the enemy you are going to be able to sack their cities with ease.

Here is the northern part after my move.
I sent the save to the pirates, so a new thread should happen soon.

I can't see the hammer amounts easily but I'd say settle with range of your big fat cross the corn and clam with the most hammers from other tiles.

Kragroth, you are A: not Old Lion's dedicated lurker, and B: a competitor in the the duel league.

Stop giving him advice.

A couple of notes here.

1. I won't face either Old Lion or Q in the round robin portion of the tournament
2. Q is very unlikely by his own statements to make a dedicated game thread
3. Now that I think about, there is a slight possibility if other games begin to finish that it would be advantageous for me for one or the other opponent to lose or win.

I'll stop for now. It was my intention for players to be able to view such other threads and discuss in them hence the discussion of Dreylin dedlurking Mardoc's threads.

Given 3 there is a potential conflict of interest and I want to avoid any potrntial appearance of impropriety.
