The good news of this turn:

We finished our first building in this game!

even better:

I still think we should play safe for the next city, but after that this is definitely a spot to consider (I think right on the plains hill where the warrior is). Despite two resources, it is actually a little food scarce, but gems is a strong argument for about any plant. Also note that water south of that other PH. That could be another long channel (note that the water that start from TOS isn't actually a lake, as I thought/hoped first, but coast, and seems to be a longer waterway). I think we are seeing our mapmaker's handwriting there. It is possible that we are meant to settle that plains hill to connect both seas, so I'll scout that after moving the warrior to that jungle tile. A plant there would be a logistical problem however, very far away from our other cities, though road connectable from TOS.

Not so good / embarassing news:

We were not aiming for any of these, so not too bad either. Stonehenge went to Mardoc, as expected. The embarassing part is that I completely missed Buddhism falling. Could have been either of Mardoc or Alhazard. Al wants a religion for border popping / making use of his obelisk, but Mardoc wants Piesthood, so both have their motivation. Do you want to look up in the old saves who could have been it?
If Hinduism doesn't fall, should we try for it after writing or maths? Temple of Artemis isn't that bad of a wonder for us, actually, as the priest gives us more GPP than others get and we get extra trade routes. Obviously we won't build it before connecting marble.

Demos still good:

We have to work the lake at Pfeffi to get Pottery within 2 turns (next turn we can change that, as TOS returns to the crab). The settler is delayed a turn probably, as GD needs the corn to grow, but it may still work out.

S of the PH (and same goes for S of the bananas) the water is coast, not lake. You can tell because you can see waves in the fog.

I don't think GD should make any effort to actually finish that monument, mining the silver will mean dropping a worker there and either risking losing him to a barb or giving him an escort. At the moment we don't have many warriors to spare, so silver can wait a little (if it gave us happiness I'd say go for it but we can't connect it to our network for now). Building an axe in TOS to defend a potential wheat/gems site is a strong option, we'll have copper in like 9t.

The best part about this turn were the demos:

Now, considering that I'm the noob in this game, are we whipping too little? That population advantage even got more eot when both GD and TOS grew. Granted, the others should have reached Pottery long before us and may have whipped their granaries (though I don't see us doing even that a lot - after a whip we can't grow above size 3 in non-capital cities, so what's the point?). We could whip the settler in Pfeffi and still work all the good tiles, I may consider that.

I'm also considering a city E of TOS soon (don't think the next settler, but soon). The problem there is that we have just too many good tiles to work - at least 4 FP (to be cottaged) and 3 resources. I'm not seeing a good corn-sharing spot before calendar. So we should scout the east.

Did a stupid move with the scouting warrior at wheat/gems, moving it onto the jungle. Don't know what I was thinking, but I even announced it, so Adrien, you had the opportunity to stop me :P

Considering that we might whip in the settler next turn, where does our next plant go? If you don't say anything I'll go for 1NE of the sheep. We still can switch to yellow (north) from there.

I did this, and I'm pretty sure it was Mardoc. So he's heading full steam to Oracle.

Working out the average : opponents are at 20/32/38 GNP, 9/9/14 MFG 17/21/31 CY (or close enough). Soldier points is 29/29/30, land area 34/32/30, pop 13/33/54. Without happiness resources we should refrain from too much whipping, I've been considering marble city for our next, to get the fur in line, or scout the east to see if a city near silver is viable.

I don't remember the scout movement announcement but I was pretty depressed yesterday so I have an excuse if I missed it (well not really an excuse, more of a reason for missing it really).

Do you think we can manage a plant off our starting island logistically? On the mainland, we may not have enough warriors (it could work with something close to TOS, but I fear I can't scout it in time for the next settler). For the iceball (which btw also could have barbs on it?) we would need to build another galley, or would cut the connection to the mainland for a while. I'm more leaning towards getting a galley out of a northern port and found then.

Maybe you're right. But I don't really like the spots we could settle on the starting island...

The city I'm thinking NW of sheep is more of a support for now, managing to work more tiles, and particularly cottages, in our core while we are happy constrained. Eventually it may become a decent unit production site, nothing else.

If you think 1S of horse is much better we can do that, but I don't think so, since the only strong argument for that is the fish, while it has quite some disadvantages

Wait, NW of the island sheep ? Not blue dot ? Or NE of the sheep ? That would orphan the tundra copper. While it's not a great tile it's not the worst tile either. Especially since the mainland copper will be under threat from barbs for a long time. I could see NE of the sheep, it orphans the fish in the short term but we can settle north of the silver eventually. If you really want a city to share tiles with the cap I'm in favor of orange dot, it gets two FPs and a wine mine from the start.

Aaaaaah I avoided it for 22 pages, but I knew it was a question of time to happen. I mixed up east and west, somehow this won't get into my head ever. I'll use numblock code from now on, so: 9 of sheep.
Don't like orange dot because zero food.
