I don't think I overreacted to Matt. Matt, I contend, intentionally mischaracterized an argument, and offered a meta-threat. My "dialing back" was only in relation to the threat part, and I don't think I dialed back anyways. What I said was the threat wasn't scary to dtay, but was a suggestion of out-of-game consequences. I'm trying to clarify that Matt wasn't being threatening via tone but via the content of the threat. To the last part of the quoted sentence above, my question got directly answered. Most of my afternoon was taken up by a hike and cooking some chicken paella, checking in before I go to bed. Agreed with Lewwyn that Mattimeo is suspicious, his lurking is reminiscent of his mafia play in WW34. Going to keep my vote on Dr Saul though; the dtay mixup wasn't a big deal imo, but his reaction to the wagon on him struck me as defensive, and not in a good way. At any rate he seems like the least unreasonable lynch today other than Mattimeo for lurking.
I don't think sunrise is scum, his initial series of posts read like a natural progression of his thoughts. Good to see he's stopped lurking too, but I'd like to hear what he has to say on the Doctor Saul case or some of the other players. Then he had a substantive post + the subsequent defenses of himself/voiced suspicions, which got him solidly out of "not posting" territory and voided the only reason I was on him. The cases on these earlier people had no or almost no substance to them; Gazglum was as jokey as a joke wagon could be, and Adrien was really just pressure for his initial posts. Personally it makes sense that Doctor Saul would be more, ah, popular than both of those since his posts have looked a little scummy. I have some, but after falling behind in the thread I've not been able to read as closely as I'd like catching up. *Matt remains my top suspect for reasons given above. Remove the threat point entirely (which I don't think is fair) and he's still putting the wrong words in someone's mouth for at best very unclear reasons. *I didn't like dtay in post 96, for making cases and then not voting for any of them, but the change off his policy vote made in that post seemed genuine to me. So town point. *Gazglum does a similar thing in 122, giving a reason to not vote for Saul and a reason to vote for Matt, but keeping his vote on the former. Interestingly he doesn't vote Matt because he wants to give him a chance to post more. This next vote? Me, for not posting enough... *Speaking of backing off a position (see my last post above) I don't really like Zak's follow-up to the "scum formula" post. He goes from... I need to re-read since there's so much said about it compared to other cases, and it doesn't help that it calls back to past games I wasn't a part of. Also, my unofficial goal for this game is to not post least per day. I'm not going to pull a "lynch me if that's not good enough for you" thing, but it's not realistic for me to contend with post leaders. He then posted, with hsi post imo being well, adequate. Not something that makes me give him a town read but I don't think he's in particular more scummy than some other randomly selected player. I then think the attacks on that post are bad, and the people being convinced by what I view as bad/unsusbtantiated reasons are therefore suspicious. "Do you vote for someone only to make them post, and then not actually examine what they posted?" - kind of yes, you can't let people lurk. Though I notably just like... think people's examinations of it are bad. Especially the identity confusion arg.
Fear cuts deeper than swords.
Given that (lurking = bad), and sunrise is no longer the lurkiest :
Matt needs to post some reads and things
Fear cuts deeper than swords.
Thanks Fenn, I'm EST so I won't be up too much longer, but I'll try to re-read the Saul arguments in the a.m.

Zak's last few posts make it sound like his vote was more off a gut feeling off the whole of my post, and that I understand a little bit more. It's still wrong, though; he's scummy IMO but I'm still keeping my vote on Fenn. Fenn's latest posting of his itinerary felt over-the-top to me. Nobody was asking him why he had been gone -- the lurker pressure was given to Mattimeo and Sunrise (and earlier to me). He also didn't address my accusation. |
