hm, I was looking for something green and icy, which is hard... thought about mint or pistachio ice cream but these are awful city names.
But I hope everyone else has the same reading... they'll search fopr the city on a sunny beach, and never find ittwirl!

So this turn we founded Perrier. I wanted to save that name for a water heavy, riverside plant but as it looks like we will not ever found another riverside city this game again.

As you see, there is a whole situation there: Al got 2 WC in the area, we've got 2 spears and an axe (Perrier has a pair), plus an axe/spear pair will unload next turn onto 'C', the settler comes the turn after. Now, if Al wants to he can eat that worker next turn, but it'll cost him his WC (after playing I noticed that the trade is quite favourable for him but still, both lose). I doubt he will, because his former actions didn't indicate such a behaviour.
I noticed after founding that our plant sort of splits Mardoc, who is still at war with THH. I hope he just accepts our plant, if not, he will lose at least this southern city to THH.

We might get an opportunity to troll Mardoc next turn:

I say we don't. Btw, somehow we got traderouts with him, nice.

GD popped borders eot to find...

nothing. But we know that the Al side of the peninsula looks nicer, and if we get D (the settler takes a while indeed) we have good chances to get that.
anyways, next turn I'll get a worker on the galley to mine that silver.

This could be fun. 95% THH has something to kill the barb, but otherwise he could pillage his gems, which is still his only happy resource. Or do we try to kill that warrior? I doubt we have so much love for the frontrunner...

Demos still too ugly to show, solid 3rd to last place. Will lots of happiness save us, or just further stall expansion?

After we mine the silver we should road down to ToS or D, and boom we get one more happiness resource.
I suggest you move out of the barb's way next turn if he's still there or he'll be tempted to attack us.
We need a golden age soon.

Yes to all. Firefox keepsccrashing on my pho.e, o very short:
Gering a GP vs. growing cities is a problem. Candidates are pfeffi and TOS. Where do we build NE?TOS?

TOS is a good candidate yes.

I looked at the new save (looked, not played wink ) and have some comments.

First THH had an axe ready to kill the barb. Too bad. Second, why are you cottaging a grassland instead of putting plantation on the banana ? Third I think the northeastern galley should go NE to look for a passage in the ice towards AlHazard. Fourth I now think we should go for either IW->Compass or Archery->HBR. The first has economic advantages with the cothons plus some production thanks to iron. The second is just for numids, but they're our UU so we kinda want them. Aesthetics can wait until we've done one of those. We're getting the HG anyway.

Oh and can we name a city Red Star ? The club was founded by Jules Rimet, who created the world cup and it's based in my city. (that's a photo from the youth team a few years ago but it's the best photo I found)

I have to confess that I had to google Jules Rimet shhh Well, naming a city Red Star because the theme is green things is really weird, I like it. Do you prefer just Red Star or Red Star 93 / Paris or something of the style?
I assume you are not one of the gentlemen on that photo?

because it's on a jungle. But we are taking care of this, because...

I'm really glad you're saying this. I still wanted TGL, but it's a stupid idea. Cothons are great and a sure thing, so we're going that way. And on our way we'll get IW, i.e. dancingdancingdancing

Yep, but first it has to pick up the worker at Caipirinha

playing now, report may follow.

I liked that turn!

Quite a number of WCs, but we got the same number in spears, + 2 axes and behold, our first chariot (it's 120 BC crazyeye). And in two more turns, one city more.
Midterm we will want to keep some units on the gem tile to be able to help out in both cities.

IW is on the way, for next turn you can calculate what the right slider percentage is to get the tech and not lose to round-off. Alternative is two scientists at Pfeffi, but I want food there.

First time since a good number of turns I'm not so ashamed to show demos:

note that THH and AL also are researching, and Mardoc partly (or the poor guy has really low income with 22g)

so Adrien, if you want to play tomorrow's morning turn, it's yours. If you don't, maybe leave a note in the tech thread for people not to expect it. I hope to get the other upcoming turns, otherwise I should be able to at least notify you. Tile/worker micro on the starting island needs some care for all the cities to work good tiles and grow fast.

I'll be home around 4:30 tomorrow, no way I can play the turn sooner.
Calculating the right percentage is easy : 152 = 8*19 so to make it best you have your slider to be at 50 (because 50% of 152 is 76.0, no rounding). Last time we were at 105 which was a multiple of 5 : any of 20, 40, 60 or 80 would have been good.

You can plantation stuff on jungle before IW.

Ok, I'll write it in the tech thread, and stay with the idea that I'll play the next turn if nothing goes wrong

That's not taking into account that we're getting beaker multipliers at Pfeffi. But the trick works if you set research to 0 and take total income as the base. So thanks smile
