Can you play the first turn ? I won't be able to play on most Wednesdays (at least not until late, and I would make stupid mistakes then)
I won't be able to play for another 10 hours, but it looks like they are giving us 96 hours for the first turn. So...
Settle in place Scout: S - SW Start on Agriculture (9 turns) Build Worker (9 turns iirc) Work Deer tile 3f - 1h That's the plan, right?
Behold, the opening turn!
![]() Some good and bad news on our early reveals. Lets start with the good: 1. During the city pop, two new resources were revealed -- Grassland Cows to support the Stone and Gems to the northwest. The latter is great news, as I was hoping we'd find one of the fancy minerals nearby to enhance our commerce as well as happiness via cheap Forges. 2. Next, our Scout traveled SW - S and revealed a nice possible city location with two food support -- Fish and more Grassland Cows. The bad news? Our capital is now confirmed to rest at the shore of a long channel. This means that the Stone hill we fix our gaze across said channel each morning will remain elusive until we get to Sailing. ![]() So what does this do for our early game? 1. We can add Hunting (for Pastures) to our list of needed techs to possibly consider before Pottery and AH. 2. Fishing > Sailing becomes more of a prospect if we want to secure that Stone site. We may end up contending with a NW neighbor for it at some point, which could wind up being a tactical nighmare if they are able to plant a city right across from our capital. 3. For the time being, the course of the channel will only require us to defend just a bit more that our SE quadrant. We need to decide if we would rether use that to our advantage and settle the SE quickly, or control as much land on either side of the channel as possible. I think I am leaning toward the latter. Next city site The site 2E from the Fish seems like the obvious choice, though our Scout will be able to check out the Gems site by the time we build our first Settler. Next scout move I am thnking 2SE unless you think there are any benefits to 2S or SE - E. We have plenty of time to go 2S if we want to scout out the channel more.
Great ! A city N or NE of stone will be a good site when we get sailing. 2SE is fine for now. Time to sim !
Played turn two. Interesting choice here, it might be worth it to go SW-SE next turn to decide which city is better between W of cow or SW of cow. Fog gazing tells me the tile SE of gems is a lake.

Is the gems tile fresh water? If so that almost confirms lake without having to fog gaze too much. The other possibility is an oasis on the desertish looking tile east of the gems.
