Not sure the alternate thing is a good idea. That will cause even more mass claim chaos.

Yes, that may be a concern. I guess you could publicly list both discarded cards for each player, to avoid a separate round of claims just for that.

Of course, then the player who discarded two cop cards will have some explaining to do. lol
If you know what I mean.

He could claim he got triple cop lol

As he didn't actively discard 1 of them he can blame BRick and explain why he discarded one cop with "I wanted to give BRick some freedom to balance the game". At least that would be a reason for me to discard 1 cop.

So how would the alternate cause more chaos? Just players knowing an extra card that's not out in rotation?

And I can just make it go back to the pick from two but that means it's possible to have to redo picks if say everyone picks scum.

How about you leave yourself the possibility of making two scum factions if there are too many scum ?

The 3 card idea is a good way to balance a game. Of course it reduces the info of the discards. It also increases drastically the meta-speculaion a'la "Why would BRick chose to remove Role X" or "What does it say about alignement of player" etc etc.

Perhaps only announce the role a player discarded but forbid to talk about the role that got removed by you?

scum + SK are ok games.
the scum + alien idea BRick has floating around in the setup here are borderline
Real multi-scumgames are usually only fun for scum as the town is nothing more than meatballs getting played by both factions with no chance to learn anything from votings or eagerness to hunt scum etc.

Because scum would potentially have two discards to explain, and town would have twice as many known discards available when considering the credibility of claims.

Basically instead of discussing joke votes on day 1 we would be embroiled in a massive meta speculation session.

Quick thought: if you roll strong town cards, maybe don't opt to play scum? I keep feeling like I'm missing something in this thread and in the WW35 lurker thread. Namely, that in a normal game if someone wants scum and gets town that's not considered a bug. It's unclear to me that in a setup that at least offers the possibility of making interesting choices the game is flawed because some choice combinations make it the right decision to play town.
