I also thought that Gazglum was remarkably cold-blooded at lynch time, as noted earlier. And on reflection, the "I accused Novice so he should have been suspecting me" argument isn't great. Novice isn't exactly notorious for revenge voting.
And I still wouldn't mind hearing his claim. So Gazglum, while we both sleep.
Ok Jabbz, looks like you dodged my follow-up question. I'll buy your explanation.
If you know what I mean.

Man... no deaths in a role madness game is just so ominous.
I disagree with the reasoning and necessity of the lynch with Commodore... unless you're scum. I believed his role and even if he were to "side" with scum he wouldn't know who all were scum and who all were not scum until several days into the game. Revealing who is town would actually not hurt a villager. Thus he would only really have been a danger to scum. He wins with scum yes, but also wins with town! It doesn't really matter. Lynching him removes a threat to scum and wastes a lynch finding scum (as his role had already been revealed).
Now if you didn't believe him, fine. But I thought he was believable even in my drunken state, which is why I didn't switch onto him. Rather at the time I passed out, Matt had not claimed yet. If I had been awake and a aware, I would have switched to Gazglum.
OR I would have preserved a no lynch with a tie. I thought both gore and Matt were better off alive. If you can't get the votes to lynch Gazglum leaving it at a tie is actually the better option in this case!
I have a few people I'm suspicious of based off of the lynch, and golly gee, it looks like Gazglum has a lot of votes today. Let's start there.

Um, wow, it's now my turn to go at the number of votes on someone.
I don't like Gazglum's day 1 at all - he jumps around like he's trying to see what sticks on people; he's giving us excuses after the fact that we have to take his word on; he's mis-representing arguments that people make. But his explanation for all those things -- too busy to talk everything out -- that could also explain the posts, plus his case on novice seems plausible -- it's actually the first good one he's made -- and made me think it was worth letting him work for another day to see what he can give.
The fact that everybody is in love with Gazglum now when I could only convince 2 other people yesterday? That is giving me crazy second thoughts. What happened to Mattimeo?
Seriously: dtay, Lewwyn - you guys were both on Mattimeo yesterday. What don't you like about his case now?

Warning everyone in advance - This is going to be a busy 48 hours for me. I had to work late because the US health care system is a steaming pile of shit lit on fire and put on the collective US doorstep; and I have finals Thursday which I need to be studying for. Actually I'll be taking a final when the deadline hits. You'll get a lot more of me day 3, I promise. Hell, you'll probably get more of my time today than I should rightly give, but you guys are a lot more fun that Operating Systems and Software Engineering.

I would have switched off Mattimeo to Gazglum yesterday If I had been around to hear his claim.
And yeah you can all WFIOM "Was he really drunk? Was it a scum ploy?" All you want, but I don't think that even matters because I would have gone to bed around that time anyway. I'm simply never going to be online in the time leading up to the deadline this game. Its at 6AM, I try to go to bed at 10:30-11 and wake up at 7. I might wake up early for a deadline, but probably not.

That message was probably written by a player (possibly even Goreripper posthumously, who knows if he left anything out about his role) - doubt the GM flavor posts would so directly hint at a cult. Most likely, we have a player out there who thinks there's a cult about, or at least wants everyone else to think so. There's no way such a player could know one way or another on N1, so this message doesn't help too much. If we're betting, I'd say a role madness game about trolling sounds like the natural habitat of some kind of cult.
About lynching Goreripper, I only really considered Gazglum's sangfroid in hindsight when others pointed it out; at the time it seemed to me that he was getting run up for throwing his vote around to elicit responses, something which I don't think is scummy D1 and was anyway something that I was pretty much doing too. Mattimeo was out of the question too, so for me it came down to Goreripper vs No Lynch. On balance his posting/fishy claims tipped it over the edge for me. It's not so bad that our neutral party was lynched; consider that if we had no lynched and had the night phase proceed as it did we'd have no deaths and almost nothing to go off of.
As it is...Agnes is right that Gazglum's claim to have not voted for Gore for want of a Novice lynch is dubious when it's deadline time and a Novice wagon is not going to appear out of thin air. I get if you want to stick with who you think is scummiest, but deliberately not doing anything to materially effect the outcome of the lynch is not towny imo.
Would still like dtay to explain why he never revisited his Mattimeo vote even after he promised to. Night everybody.

I agree that Goreripper wasn't a great lynch. I disagree fundamentally, though, that he was worse than a no-lynch. He pretty clearly wasn't going to play ball, and there are a myriad of ways he could've screwed things up for it.
Sure, revealing who is town doesn't hurt the villages...but I fully expected him to willfully lie and work to deceive the village. Yes, he was probably better lynch for scum then village. But that doesn't mean his presence was better than his absence. I'm glad he's dead.

I agree, the size of the train on Gazglum is quite disconcerting. Does no one have any other suspicions to bring forth? Any thoughts on his content - on the novice case, for example?

I was partway thinking through it with no conclusion, got distracted by irl things, then forgot about ww until after deadline. Believe me or not, but that's what happened. I'm lucky Matt didnt end up getting lynched because i had no particular reason to want him to be, vote was still a joke vote. Which is also my answer to pind.
