Lol communists were basically the weakest faction. See we were town!

Glad we ended, new game time!

I just find it funny everybody wanted me dead and my team continuously protected me as though we knew everyone wanted me dead.

I can see how the game might have worked if there had been a bit less protections and/or the anarchists had actually killed some people rather than planting bombs. I think in the whole no night killing made the game feel even more like diplomacy. Also being neutered to night kills on even nights sucks. You're behind from the get go and everyone's protected. It would have been better if we and the fascists could kill every night. IMO

Btw, Commodore never revealed his final ability- he could pick one person every night and see what they (and only they) said in their QT smile I was def. on a paranoia kick, heh.

I had thought of making the War Correspondent a Vampire Hunter lyncher-type role instead, but that would have given away the "twist" instantly, and likely dominated the game as everyone spent the first day and every subsequent one hunting the cult leader.

Not new information, but I agree a lot with this. The perception that only the lynch matters really contributed to the "negotiate between factions" feeling, which is ok as a sideshow but I feel like isn't the reason people choose to play werewolf.

That novice got lynched early didn't help matters, since the possibility of cultists seems like it would create the werewolf feel of hunting down the traitors even in a world of multiple scum factions. This was exasperated by the copious nighttime protections that caused novice's recruitment to fail.

Overall, I had external difficulties really participating, but with a few small tweaks I think this could have been a lot better. Less protection may have been enough on it's own actually.

Or equal protections, but allowing both sides to kill every night. Since there is no town to protect from over-killing, that should function much the same way.

Although the above is harsh on the Anarchists, who don't have a conventional kill strategy.

It could have worked better with some tweaks, sure. But I think there would have been issues with this concept regardless of how much tweaking you did. Town needs someone to hunt, and scum need someone to deceive. As I mentioned in the game thread, the "majority are traitors" concept worked better, because in that case there sort of was a town, and it was just a matter of realizing that you actually were the town, for practical purposes. And it ended quickly once the cat was out of the bag. But maybe the town in that game should have all been masons, to complete the reversal and keep things fun for everybody.

Still, I see both variants as one-off gimmicks, to be honest. (Don't get me wrong. Trying this once was fine. But I have no particular desire to play another iteration of "everybody is scum" in the future.)

In any case, thanks for hosting, Bob! I can see that you did have good intentions, despite the thread title. smile And there were definitely some creative elements in the setup.
If you know what I mean.
