[SPOILERS] SevenSpirits and The Black Sword - Baguettes and Circuses

We landed the Colossus T70:

Time for Terroix to grow now. GJ took the MoM T71 too, there was no way we could compete for that without marble, just too expensive. He's got a nice collection of wonders and some tall cities, but his demos still lag quite a bit behind.

We've picked up Currency since the last report and settled Plastix this turn for the 3rd IC trade route:

I want to ferry that archer over before we send the galley exploring. Calendar is probably next up after IW and then start preparing for the GA.

We've been bumping borders with Yuri a fair bit:

Yuri had been chopping the forest SE of Warwick and we were hoping to surprise him with our chariots. Unfortunately we took cultural control over the tile and he retreated. I could have pushed onto the forest this turn with 5 units but that didn't look all that good if he could whip something in and I'd prefer to keep the extra chariots hidden. In the south, we can hit that city from the fog with our galleys. He only had 1 axe last time we glanced in, so that's another good attack avenue.

I'm not sure if we want that barb city to the north, since it's exposed to 3 other players. I would like a city 3N of Monix, but Monix's current settler is to pick up the dyes north of our capital as Calendar is coming.

We're finally claiming the south:

Bombix will probably whip us a settler for down here. We've opened up quite a bit of a lead in the demos:

Cool.

I notice that the forest yuris vacated has 1t into the chop, by the way, so it will only take us one worker turn to finish if we want to try that.

I'm guessing he will chop in a monument this next turn, since the worker on the forest probably moved to the other forest. So we can expect cultural borders to shift after 5 more of our turns, I think. I'm not sure what we should do there yet, I guess we will see what he does. If he keeps all three units in the city, I don't think it's worth attacking - the archer eats up 1-2 chariots.

What do you think about working a 2/0/4 coast vs the engineer? I was thinking the coasts are better if they get us to size 8 sooner, but I didn't check the actual specifics.

Next turn I think working the coast allows to grow exactly, so that makes sense. In general, I'm not sure which is better, I went with the Engineer since that's more flexible on a macro level.

Btw, should we work an Engineer in Aquatix as well? It will usually be worth 3h thanks to the forge bonus, it's got so much food I'm sure we'll get a specialist there eventually and shouldn't slow down growth.

Engineer in Aquatix makes a lot of sense. It has so much food, it's a great city to run specs.

We'll probably want Compass and some military techs after CS.

Skipped compass after all and simply libbed Assembly Line with the help of some bulbs. Then doubled back to snipe the music artist one turn ahead of GJ - revenge for him beating us to the Hanging Gardens by a turn.

Should we conquer someone next, or just go for a culture victory? We do have the artist...

Culture, please. popcorn

Er, Assembly Line?
