Good news (is it good?) is that THH is shifting military heavily towards Mardoc. I hope he holds, at least for some time. In ten turns maybe we could intervene with muskets/cats? THH left just an axe/spear at Beijing, that's just yelling for numids if it stays like that.

Our golden age jewels:

Also note it's just a little more than 1 turn of 100% GA research for gunpowder. I hope that's no more than 2 non GA turns, and I also hope our breakeven will be at about 50%, so 4 more turns to go.

Also a problem / misplanning of mine that has to be resolved:
we'll need 5 universities for Oxford. We've got libraries in Pfeffi, TOS, Emerald and Perrier. I *thought* we also had one in Hulk, but now I remember how I discussed how much better building the Great Wall there was... so, candidates to get out a library + university fast:
- Red Star: Has 3 potential food, hills + 1 chop left. Could use the culture well, has 2 cottages growing already and is coastal, so more commerce from there evenetually. Contra is that it's got a courthouse halfway done which I would hate to abandon.
- Kiwi: Also has use for the culture, and is a production powerhouse already. Also one chop left. Has no commerce at all. Is Hindu already
- Hulk: Culture would be helpful and the city has cottages. There's some whip potential as well and it's Hindu. Just 2 mines though. Has its barrakcs nearly done.
- Peas: Has good production and some commerce, no chops. On size 6 right now and competes with more important cities for food. Also it has its barracks done already, so I'd prefer to keep getting out military
- GD: it's a shame it doesn't have any commerce multipliers, but with the HE and the overall tense situation I don't think it'd be wise. Fastest construction probably of course.
- Jungle (NE fishing village): Got 4 (3?) chops left still and there's some whip potential with the fish, also 3 mines. Coastal city with silver, so the multiplier would be helpful. I'd prefer to get a lighthouse first, but it would not be too much damage to wait.

My current favourites are Red Star and Jungle, probably the latter. If we shift enough workers up there, it could be reasonably fast. Both cities are not Hindu yet, but the missionary is produced already. (gotta remember not to finish chops before religion is there)

GD is the best library city IMO. I'm not scared of a THH attack now, we should show him a musket as soon as we have one just to be sure.

Thing is, if we just let him eat Mardoc it's game over, so I'd rather have a force to give him some pressure, like razing Beijing or what it's called right now with a 2mover attack, but then we also have to be able to defend ourselves. Right now two knights would be devastating at Hulk.
Atm now only GD and Peas are producing military, with GD able to 1t a cat (in GA). We need to build up that cat stack (without them even muskets are not worth that much).
With the university in Jungle we could switch the library to that city. GD would be on 21 commerce/turn out of GA then. A library+university would give 10 extra bpt when researching at 100% (so effectively like +5bpt). I don't think that's worth losing on 1-2turning untis for about 10 turns

in summary I agree that the university in GD would be the most productive, it's just that the downsides of building it there are also the largest. And we don't really want the university because of the beakers, but for the Oxford unlock

Oxford is for TOS right ?

I was thinking pfeffi, but am I missing something maybe? Bureaucracy + TGL + largest number of grown cottages....

You're building the national epic there, and I think the palace counts as a national wonder.

Palace counting as NW would be totally new to me, but I'll check it with a sim, as it's very important. Civfanatics says palace is the only NW that doesn't count for the 2-by-city limit

Ok then we'll oxford the cap and our research will be incredible.
