[PB26 Spoilers] Joey and Donovan play around in the muck

Hmm.... sort of towards.... Sitting Bull...

Sitting Bull of Germany? That sounds cool based on what you described.

Sorry I haven't been able to devote any time here. I'll be playing catch up on understanding the mod in short doses over the next two weeks, and will have lots of availability after April 16th.

Cool. I've been pretty busy myself. I started a post analyzing each player's picks but then I got to Thoth's pick and just threw up my hands. I think Krill mixed something up between revisions because Portugal's new UB is just retarded. The Feitora is now available at compass and gives +1c and +1h on each water tile. 0_0 Completely broken, jesus.

I played the first turn, and I'm likin' what I see so far:

Another food resource! The new 5/1 crabs. I think moving should work out just fine... I still think settling on the sheep is better than the corn, but we'll know more next turn. The sheep grabs 7 forests while the corn grabs 9. The sheep looks like it might get some nice extra coast, which is cool because we could start on an early Moai here (remember, new Ind gets to build two of each National Wonder).

I don't get it, doesn't the feitoria just replace a building available at compass giving a bonus to water tiles ? Like instead of +1h it gives +1c and +1h ?

No, the Feitora replaces the shipyard, which gives +3h, +25% production to ships, +3XP for naval units. +1 health from crab, clam, fish, +100% production with Protective. The Portugeuse version also gives +1c, +1h per water tile. So, for 40 hammers they get a superior Moai in every coastal city at Compass. Suddenly our double National Wonders doesn't sound too hot anymore. frown

Yeah, the feitoria as it currently exists may not survive this test of the mod. In my test game it was ridiculously powerful, look at this late game city (caveat, with Moai):

I stopped building cities because I was mostly pressing End Turn to test the space victory, so I had a small empire but each coastal city was really strong as soon as I got the water buildings up. With FIN for extra commerce (and Colossus because why not?) and maximizing use of coastal tiles I had a strong economy with only a few cities. I guess the lumbermill spam helped too though. lol

Anyway, I guess the point is that land tiles can be really strong now too, if you have All The Trees, but Portuguese coast is a pretty immediate instant economy, and with the right traits, is a low cost to get started. I suppose this game will sort out how balanced it all is. If Portugal is broken good I wouldn't be surprised to find other changes to other civs have similar OP effects. Just need to find them so they can be adjusted. One thing is for sure though, playing SMEG against AI is just silly. It isn't even fair.twirl

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

good lord, 3/4/6 tiles. i don't know man, i really like a lot of the changes in this mod but then sometimes there's stuff like, what the hell was Krill thinking?????

anyways.... that's a pretty cool city and all but............ can it compare with PIG ISLAND??!?? You want pig, you want island, well, hell, we got all that and more here at Pig Island. So come on down!

Whew, I've been pretty bad about posting here. I've been really busy IRL and have been putting whatever minimal reporting I can do in my other games at a higher priority than this one, sorry. Donovan, feel free to log in and look around, btw. The password is "banana."

Anyways, we're doing nicely so far. We teched Agriculture -> Pottery -> The Wheel (no longer a prereq of Pottery) to get immediate 6f rice and 5f corn. I put one turn of work into the corn, and then improved the rice first, starting a settler at size 2. We'll have roaded to the city site by then, the spot marked with a "c," which seems to be the only OK spot around. That can share the capital's rice while it waits for a border pop.

Speaking of border-pops, I'm trying to found Buddhism in our new city. It looks like plako might be competing with us though... based on score, he and I are the only ones who bothered with Mysticism, which is now a much more expensive tech than the other first-rows. I now see that he got myst one turn before us... perhaps Hinduism would have been the better call? Hmmm...

Any ideas on city naming themes, by the way? I was thinking about going with banana recipes, reminiscent of that epic breakfast scene in the first chapter of Gravity's Rainbow...
