I think I know what THH's plan is. If he can take Faraday Mardoc has no access to iron and can't counter the knights. He can attack Faraday with 1t's warning, and it makes Mardoc irrelevant militarily until he gets gunpowder.

He can have ours. We're getting the other one in about 3-4turns and we're not using it anyway (only iron unit we could build are swordsmaen  . Might even send it to him next turn, he could take it as a bin lhint as to what's going on. Just gift it or should we ask for gold?

Do we have a second Iron (I can't remember); and if so would we supply it to Mardoc to stop THH running him over/through?

Otoh we don't want Thh to turn on us when he sees us giving resources to his war target... Better to wait for the invasion to begin. We've got a good view on everything.
Still the question if we want mardoc to pay for iron and of yes , how much .

Also, if some day we go for offense, and if THH just conecntrates on Mardoc and leaves his border cities with us with ancient junk garrisons: It would be great fun to put mobility on 4 of GD's numids and raze The Hermitage with that, starting at Hulk and crossing that hills.
In general, do we want to declare on THH and distract him from eating Mardoc, once we have our first muskets?

Muskets vs knights is not a great prospect. Cuir is way better.

Of course, but having Mardoc fighting with us has some appeal, and THH not getting all of his land as well... that's why I'm thinking we could set up a limited war. Like, razing Hermitage, send some numids towards Beijing or what it's called now, send down something the channel from Emerald, forking three cities...
just for him not to grow too fat and to give Mardoc some hope

What kind of diplo did we agree on in the game settings ? Would an offer to Mardoc Faraday vs caipirinha be alright ? Just so he's not taken by surprise

again, what's your opinion? Gold from Mardoc for iron or does he get it for free? If not, how much do we want from him? I guess if we see somehow that he has Guilds already (considering his GA research, I think that's quite possible), we can ask for something, like, 20gpt?
