Turn 219
BGN seems to be massing Galleons to the west . The mainland is fairly well covered, but a few cities in Dreylin's former land could fall if he got ideas. Nothing I'm too worried about though as it seems like he's just chasing down Krill's units . With combustion in and Oil auto-hooked we need to build about 8 Public Transportation systems. We'll get back to building boats and Infantry ASAP once they are in place. BGN's production edge is telling in the power stats. Even after upgrading 4 Destroyers we're still 4 800 000 to his 5 314 000. Perhaps the four more Destroyers we'll produce this turn will help? On tech we tossed a coin and went for Flight. Flight will give us Aircraft Carriers, allowing us to hit TBS much more easily. We'll get radio next, assuming BGN isn't going to race us for the wonders it gives, then Industrialism to project real power at TBS/BGN/whoever. I only just noticed there is no Uranium on the map, so at least we don't have to worry about nuclear war. No pics today as I'm on a laptop.

Perhaps TBS is role playing Gandhi?

I've been busy working, moving and being sick --> I've barely had time to post in our gchat and not written my thoughts here. But now, thanks to short Easter holiday, I'll catch up a bit.
First of all I've updated our research analysis and current estimation says that we finish our final tech required for spaceship eot265 (Ecology). Add couple of turns for building time of the last part and travel time and there you have our (very rough) theoretical victory date. Of course a lot can happen until then, but if had to bet my money I would state that this game will see a maximum of 60 turns. A major war between us and BGN might prolong that though. Our TBS adventures were a long shot, probably still worth trying. In any case now it must be pretty clear for TBS that we intend to stop his culture victory and we can't count on surprise. TBS should not know the extent of our commando units so who knows, good stuff can still happen. Anyways, now that we are openly in war we probably try to find openings and push TBS a bit. Maybe we manage to weaken him enough so that our later push is easier, maybe we can delay his victory date a little bit... Maybe we just alarmed him and made him defend better, but I guess the game plan for culture victory is straightforward enough: Run the slider and defend your 3 cities as well as you can.. I won't go much deeper into speculation now. We will be first to Flight, so that we can start building the force that we need for air dominance. We should hopefully be first to Radio (and Eiffel + Rock 'n Roll) and thus control the late game happiness resources. (We just finished Broadway, so 1/3 is in the bag) And we should be first to Computers (Internet), which should guarantee us the tech lead for the rest of the game. --> Things look solid enough, but BGN's MFG, a massive dog pile and TBS's culture attempt are still real challenges for the final 50 turns. - Dtay is at this point weak enough that we can deal with him if we aren't stretched elsewhere.. But we do have history with him, so once things get tense he might still play a decisive role in this. - Theoretically BGN could still eat someone and with a super fast conquest boost his own capabilities in a way that still helps him before the time runs out... But currently it does not look like it and I would say that in 20 turns invading even weak neighbors becomes counter-productive.
Turn 220
Again on laptop so no pics, but I've got a question about trade routes - on the north continent our cities have internal routes, but instead of linking to Gertie (size 22) and Alfie (size 21) they link to Carrot (size 18) and a bunch of other smaller cities which give us less cash. Is there a limit to the number of internal trade routes a city can provide? Anyway I moved everything except the stuff we've got near TBS. I'll come back to those after he's finished. With a research build in Xigua Flight is a 2-turn tech by about 50 beakers, but I might add another research build or two, because I don't trust inflation not to screw us again...

There shouldn't be. There's endless issues that crop up with trade routes, though.
