Yeah, I got few (!) turns from him over the weekend, with the same "sorry, I have a real life!" note. Maybe if he wasn't so busy accusing everyone on the forums of foul play he'd have time to handle his 30-second turns.
Be Vewwy Vewwy Quiet! [Game 3 Session IV Mardoc v Northstar]

Northstar, last night Wrote:Ummm, Mardoc- the save you sent me doesn't have things the way I left it... My capital just completed a unit that I didn't finish at the end of last turn! Northstar, ten minutes later Wrote:Well, anyways, let's roll with it... I just played my next turn anyways, and it wouldn't be fair to let me re-do it at this point... I've no idea what he's on about - maybe he doesn't like the city governor? But it sounds like another instance of 'that could only happen if you cheated' rather than double checking the facts. I've seen several of his other threads places where he spends three paragraphs talking about how the game is lying to him, when he could have spent three seconds and looked at a screenshot instead. Anyway, we had another turn. So at the moment it's still 2/week. I killed another wolf, so now both of my exploring scouts have a promotion available. Neither is close to Northstar, but I don't have Subdue unlocked yet either, meaning I'm really not sure what promotion I want to take. Might default to combat II, might just stay unpromoted waiting to see what we see. My only concern is the risk of dying to griffon if I don't spend promos, but I suppose the extra flexibility on everything else is probably worth it. Our second worker completed, along with our second tile improvement. Going back to scouts while growing for now. Hopefully I won't need a third worker just yet.

There's still time; I hear they're looking for someone to partner with Northstar... ![]() (April 13th, 2015, 12:58)HidingKneel Wrote: I think staying unpromoted is worth the risk. Nabbing one of those griffons for yourself would be awesome. Yeah, my earlier post was stream of consciousness, but I think that's where I come down. The only scenario where I don't have time to promote before fighting is being hit by a 2-mover from out of vision. The only 2-movers that can probably actually kill the scout are griffons and tigers. If I do have time to promote, I'll either want something appropriate for the terrain (guerilla or woodsman), or for the opponent. Won't be combat II. So saving the promotion helps for most possible fights, and hurts in the rare case of a 2-mover that I can't see. Seems worth the risk. Speaking of capturing - I do know where there's a spider, as it happens ![]() I don't know what the odds are of successful griffon harassment; I'm pretty sure he's going to go OO, which eliminates half the potential hangout locations. Can't hurt to try, though. Quote:I'm regretting my failure to join FFH 41 less and less...Yeah, in retrospect joining the duel league for the purpose of showing Northstar the error of his thinking was...naïve and optimistic. I'm at least enjoying the other duels, so I'm glad I did it, even though my original purpose turns out to be impossible. Maybe if I'm lucky, some of the other RB'ers will teach him basic civility; I'm done trying to help. At least I've met some good newbies as a result. Old Lion and Kragroth are maintaining my faith in humanity.

Is subdue only 25%? I thought it was 50%.

Yeah, it's only +25%. At least according to Civilopedia.
EDIT: Subdue promotion shows a separate text when you put your mouse over a scout with Subdue promotion. Like this: +50% vs. Animals (normal scout) +25% vs. Animal Units (Subdue) These two might not be the same? Or are they? Normal +50% vs. Animals gives you bonus against Hill Giants as well - and HGs are beast units, not animals. But Subdue doesn't give any additional strenght against Hill Giant. I've explained my theory about it in detail in his thread. If you want I can copy-paste it here since it doesn't require spoilers. "Broken clocks" and all that.

Are you sure subdue doesn't give bonuses versus Hill Giants? They're classed as Animals, I'm pretty sure, and I don't see why that would be split.
