Be Vewwy Vewwy Quiet! [Game 3 Session IV Mardoc v Northstar]

Serious question, would anyone care if North was permabanned from RB? Does he contribute anything of value? His passwords can be cracked easily enough to allow others to take over his civs.

Yes, I think I would prefer he stay. I'm ok with banning spambots, but I don't think we should ban people just for being assholes. He may turn it up to eleven, but lots of RB'ers are asses, some of the time. Not a precedent I want to see.

He gives me an opportunity to demonstrate my virtue innocent mischief.

Ok, more seriously, I'm not sure I can defend him today, but he might learn civility once he reads peoples' threads.

If MJW is unbanned, Northstar should be unbanned.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

He's never going to learn anything. That may be the single fact he's managed to prove.

I suppose that being on several ignore lists and blacklisted from any games will be equivalent to a banning. You're much more charitable than I think he deserves though.

And Bob, I bet if you ask a dozen different people 'if I were going to ban one person, who should it be,' you'll get ten different names.

It's not charity if the subject deserves it; we call that 'justice.'

Besides, it's not just about him, it's also about us.

Banning is a last resort in my view. And yes, he's going to have trouble getting into new games with his record. I hope he'll turn around; we'll see.

I think we should continue the incremental step of trying to find partners to assist and evaluate the next step of being able to catch up as it comes.

I get the feeling that your threat of taking away his games persuaded him, where no amount of pace complaints had any effect. Just got the save from him; it'll be only a day and a half between saves this time.

Having played many WW games with MJW, I still feel it's entirely unfair to compare him to Northstar. Hell, I wouldn't compare Muriel to Northstar.

I agree with this point, though.

Well, anyway, there is actually a game of civ going on here. A game that had five turns yesterday, so it's worth a report.

Our southern scout found a griffon frown. It was on the water, so I couldn't attack; I spent my promo on Woodsman and ducked into a forest, but that wasn't enough. He did find quite a bit of prime coastland, and a barrier sea that it appears we have to go north around. Realistically, we'll plant our cities inland, except maybe perhaps one to pick up the clams for the healthiness. If we ever research Fishing, that is.

My northern scout is doing a bit better, at least so far. Looks like we'll want water mana and gargoyle hunters before we settle too much this way; fortunately we've got a lot of other good terrain we can grab first.

At home, I keep improving tiles. Just completed a third worker, which is probably enough for the moment. Haven't had to work an unimproved tile yet, but that did require pauses for worker building at size 2 and 4. I know food-first is the general idea, but I think I might be to a point where it would be worth slipping in the cotton plantations. And, at some point, we'll want to start laying down cottages instead of always farms.

Northstar has shot up to size 6, presumably by sacrificing worker production; I'd bet he only has one. His demos are definitely not 50% ahead of mine, although his population is. I wouldn't be surprised if I hit size 9 before he does.

You've got a whole map to fill up! I'd focus purely on food in the capital... you could be size 8 working four floodplains farms, RoP, the Rice farm, two grass farms (one with Cotton on it). That'll be what... 7 hammers (post-Education) and 20 food surplus = 5 or 6 turn settlers? (Or size nine, add the plains cotton for -1 food, +1 hammer, +4 commerce).
