WW38: The Story of the Stories

OMG, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

I'll adress my paragraph 3 & 5 I've seen people bringing up as contradictory.

They are not.

In which strange land have I entered, that a "joke" is the same as a "joke vote"? The former is "something said or done to cause laughter" while the second is "making a random vote for someone, generally along with a ridiculous reason to kick off a fresh RB-WW game". I mean ridiculous in a good way, that is the joke part.
Examples would be
Quote:Twice in recent games I've voted for Bob for what I thought were good reasons and both times I was wrong. Maybe if I vote for him for no reason at all I'll be right ? Bob
or
Quote:Not that anyone cares but that Tyler Durden just looks like a bouncer, or just too bouncy in general. Shadeun

The former has a free place ALL GAME LONG because, it's funny, helps liven up the thread, it may make people like you more and lynch you less, it's just satisfying to make a good joke now and then.

The latter? Well it is a good way to start off the games. Sometimes I think people have been called out on making a forced funny random vote and been pressurized after that. But after a while, when there starts to appear other things to post and question and people start voting for other reasons, the time for joke should be over. Scummy to come in late, perhaps read the thread but not wanting to make a real vote and opt for the safe joke vote.

Votes show up in voting history, they are a part of the game

So Jowy's late joke vote I felt was worth the mention. There was no G-damn contradiction. Sorry for taking so much space to make that minor point, but this makes whoever said contradiction first scummy as well. AdrienIer - smart guy, not seeing difference? Oh yeah, you needed a case on someone.

I'll go with Ichabod on Mattimeo for now. He thinks my joke is bad, thats, okay, I guess, sort of, maybe, but why did it make me scum?

Umm... I don't suspect Fenn, not after he lynched Gazglum.

I'm planning to do a bit of isolated reading, i.e. filtering the thread to a given player. Currently though I'd say:
Lewwyn, Fenn, Goreripper, Rowain, Ichabod and Meiz voted Gazglum so get to see night 2.

I agree with what's been said about Mattimeo, he's pretty scummy. I like AdrienIer's angle on Molach's claim better than Mattimeo's.
Jowy has a fun but pretty bastard post restriction which makes him hard to read. I think he needs to prove himself through the vote or end up as a default lynch down the road.
Bobchillingworth seems like himself, he tends to do that when scum too but I don't think he's lynch material today.
Pindicator... I had to cheat and reread him in isolation. Wow, many posts and little content. Very funny roleplay. If he's so time restricted shouldn't he prioritize scumhunting? Pot meet kettle.
Krill got day 1 off due to being new. Even for a random vote his vote was pretty useless IMO.
AdrienIer... had that Molach vote, and now that I'm rereading it I still think it's a good point and that Molach is objectively scummy for it. Maybe my tone read on Molach is just way off. Molach aside, I'm willing to give AdrienIer some rope.
Molach: See above. I still lean town on balance. Mental note: If he's scum the Gazglum wagon takes on a whole new meaning.
Zakalwe seems to be playing his town game. I don't fault him for his Fenn vote, naturally.
Shadeun is objectively scummy but also seems to be flying solo. Serial killer, perhaps, would fit with his Tyler Durden character.

I guess that makes Mattimeo, Pindicator, Krill and Shadeun my shortlist.

Cross-posting with Molach. Will read that next.
I have to run.

Crosspost with Zak, didn't see he also voted Matt, by the way.

I listed a lot of town points in my nighttime post. As for the scum, I think AdrienIer is not cleared, Mattimeo made some questionable choices last day and I'm not a fan of Bobchillingworth making a defend-Molach post 30 mins before deadline, yet fail to try to sway the vote away from said defendant. 2 hours before I'd understand staying on target (Lewwyn) but weak from town to let wolves have a greater saying in who got the chop.
That post (questioned by Rowain earlier) could be used in a "I knew he was innocent and it was a stupid lynch"-sort of way later on.

Molach, I agree that a joke is for entertainment, whereas joke votes are a serious matter. But wouldn't you say a joke claim is even more serious?

Fair point on Bob, though, Molach.

I know I always catch heat for these policy votes, but really it doesn't get any simpler than Krill.

I suppose your reasoning makes sense but you were still trying to put a lot of different things on the same post. It's too late for a joke post but it was also kinda late for a joke about your character.
I know it was your first post but for us it was one day in, already in the information phase (with Lewwyn already mentioning his neighbor for example), and we weren't in the mood. I was pretty eager to find out about other roles (my powers are probably more useful hidden so I didn't want to volunteer mine) so was put off by your slightly-out-of-sync joke in a rather serious post.

Alignements are random I think.

Voting for Shadeun. That lynch vote simply stunk, and I'm not inclined to accept "we're BFFs" at face value as a reasonable explanation.

!תפסיק לעשות תחושה מושלמת

I thought it was pretty obviously a joke, so not serious at all. And joke claims are still not resticted to the early stage of day 1 either.

Joke votes are not really serious in themselves, but when you come late to a party and everyone is half drunk you stand oiut if you start discussing Nietzsche like the others did 2 hours ago - need to jump in and discuss Niiscscshchse.

Although I'm also tempted to vote for novice for suggesting that Brick would have made Shadeun a serial killer to fit his character. Like, no. No way. Not intentionally.
