So yeah, this is karma for actually getting home coal! Or something...

What I'm hearing is that Joey's game just got a lot more interesting.

Ok, I ran 25 sims with TBS attacking our destroyers. Based on this test the expected result is that we lose 13.2 destroyers and TBS loses 11.8 ships --> It's pretty close, but TBS should have the edge.

Of course, the test was based on my estimation of TBS's unused promos and there is a chance that he has more promos saved. In 25 runs our best result was TBS losing 16 ships to us losing only 9. In our worst run TBS killed all our 19 destroyers while losing only 6. The upside for TBS is that if he gets a great result he might get to target our transports with his last destroyers. Our upside is that if we are lucky we get to revenge and our strongest survivors can sink TBS's survivors supported by our air force.

When it comes to Pattern attack I guess it's to be expected that we lose one fighter in the process (more likely 0 than 2 though) and we get to take 70 % battles with our amphi infs. Unfortunately we only have 9 onboard this turn so in those cases we really only get a trade like 6-3. However, it does not really need that much luck to succeed better with bombarding, but due to having several amphi infs on land this turn it only leads to a 7-2 or 8-1 exchange.

So when I sum all the above up I guess playing aggressively leads overall to pretty even trade with room for luck for both sides. An even trade does not sound too attractive though :P I'll try to post some tactical alternatives

Ok, the 5 letters in the map show our alternatives reg the main fleet. For some unknown reason my dropbox isn't working so you need to look previous screenshot (or OH can log in)

A. Pattern attack
- can be hit by TBS destroyers
- potential upside in the form of killed defenders

B. Station in Yaz
- safe from destroyers, but we need to be sure that there is no miracle that allows TBS to raze the city and all our ships + planes inside it
- Keeps the fork alive

C. S of Yaz
- Can be only hit with 23 destroyers, which shifts the battle slightly in our favor, but there are risks
- Keeps the fork alive

D. Retreat to S-SE of Shadowfax
- Can only be hit with 20 destroyers. Safe retreat to our waters so that we can come back with bigger force

E. SW-SW of Khar or another tile nearby
- Move the fork to east, only 21 destroyers can hit us. Forked cities are Kas, Khar, and Lashing, but getting proper airsupport in place is maybe not possible next turn
- From this area it's not so easy to retreat so without supporting ships we run into danger of getting trapped
- With selected air bombings it might be possible to make TBS's unit shuffle more difficult

Meanwhile BGN is destroying wetbandit with leisure :P

Turn 131

Here is a shot of Fintourist's options.

I thought about it long and hard... Then I ran away. Although I did have a bit of fun trying to stifle TBS's production capacity smile. (I thought we might be holding off attacking for a little while, so no need to risk our aircraft against the anti-air.)

Next turn three Destroyers and a Transport join the fleet, I think we probably want to head back to Lashing, possibly by going around the southern half of dtay's island (although that doesn't allow further economy suppression).

yikes

I played a single player game once where I gave myself a bomber right from t0. It was... one sided.

At Yas I didn't realise we'd need a commando G2 unit to recapture the worker rolleye. This means the city will fall next turn, so I decided an MG and an Inf would be good enough defenders and evacuated everyone else. Our aircraft will cover the city while the fleet shuffles round the south. There are two dark tiles that TBS can't see due to his EP-visibility on dtay, so we'll be using them. Not that he can't just poke a destroyer out to check which one we're in.

Not the Radio wonder we were after, but it'll have to do.

Just when I'm feeling better my pc falls ill instead rolleye.

It's switching itself off a couple of seconds after starting. I'm guessing power supply but if anyone has any bright ideas they'd be welcome...

How are you set for playing turns this week ft?

False alarm - or perhaps taking it to bits and hoovering was what it needed..

Turn 233

Back to square one then. Seems like CR3 Artillery is a unit to be reckoned with... Also note that Krill gifts us units every now and then, when he thinks they are about to get killed by BGN. Should we return them, or are they just a return for the oil, coal and hit musicals we provide?

More fleet shuffling - we'll have 12 Bombers and 15 Fighters, 14 Amphi Inf, 2 Amph Cav, 15 Commando Cav in range of Lashing next turn and re-establishing the fork of Arcanclave, Khabranth and Lashing. I just hope for one turn TBS can stop being so on the ball please. He'll have 31 destroyers in the area to our 26, which could be problematic, so if we can't take the city or do some damage next turn we have an option to fall back through dtay's narrows to join our next wave of boats.

I offered Hit Singles to GJ, dtay, Krill, Plako and William, some of them I asked for cash. BGN was logged in so I didn't bother offering him them yet.

Turn 234

Did some more sky-pillaging, then hid the fleet in one of dtay's cities behind four Inf (TBS only has 1 Galleon in range). We'll have three more destroyers joining next turn, taking the balance of destroyers from 35-26 in TBS' favour this turn to 36-29 next turn. Then with another six of ours on t236 it'll be 38-35 and we might reestablish the fork... We'll have another couple of Transports which can have a combination of 6 Marines, 2 Tanks, 1 Commando Inf and 3 Commando Cav aboard. Right now I'm leaning towards the marines and Tanks, as busting the coastal cities is our current problem. contemplate
