More properly whom, but people who correct whos to whoms are, universally, asses.
So...who here thinks the newbie will be the Second Coming of the The Black Sword?

Makes me think he won't be. Donut Falamar was my best game ever, and quite a bit of fun.
But the other indications from the setup thread suggest he'll be a pleasant opponent and quite likely to learn as he goes, so I still am glad to see him.

For me the OP focusing on Amurites and Philisophical as a top-trait makes me think he isn't going to jump up the leagues.
But what Mardoc said. His focus on reporting - which, of course, remains to be proven - is another good sign.
Edit: Damnit, it's probably too late to dedlurk Dreylin, right?

If it's just players' beginning posts, you can ask for permission in the setup thread (typically with a 'post or PM if you object'). It's very unlikely that anyone would mind.
If you looked at the map, that's probably too late to dedlurk, yes.

Pretty dubious about Ven's capital location. 1S would have been better.
Funny too that he thinks the rivers are too unnatural- Kragroth can confirm / correct, but I don't think they were edited at all.

You'd take +1 hills over a river gems mine? He still does have 3 hills in that BFC...

? Maybe I'm missing something, but he'd still have the gems within his 3rd ring by the time he was ready to improve them, and would have picked up more grassland tiles instead of those useless coasts.

Oh, shit, right, he's the Kuriotates, 3-ring BFCs. Been awhile, sorry. Yeah, 1S woulda been better in that case, I agree. Well, it won't matter for awhile, he has plenty of good tiles to work up until about size 20 or so.

DaveV, why did you pick Volanna if you're not going to use her as designed?
Your scout should be attacking the skeleton! It could easily grab Shock from that and be able to keep your land clear! Or else save the XP - your grass cows mean you'll have AH soon, and he could grab some animals for you. Using an Aggressive Sinister scout as a last-ditch city defender is pretty much the worst thing you could do with it.
And how does a forest get in an elf's way?
To be equal opportunity:

Fast expand, good. Double speed settlers, good.
Granaries?
I mean maybe eventually your cities will need some extra health. But they shouldn't need it anytime soon! And the 20% bonus growth rate is also hard to justify; there's a good chance you should have half of your growing done by the time you can get a granary built. Much better to work on Dereptus or military or...a dozen other options.
