[SPOILERS] Elum & mackoti; the tiles are always greener on the other start...

Looks like they burnt a city and took one. I had 4 Knights and 3 cats I could have defended with but likely I would have lost them too if I had. Time will tell if that was the right move. If he has landed any force in my core I should be able to neutralise them with that force + incoming. I can't decide if curissars or grenadiers are the next tech choice, meta says the 2 movers, but I really want cannons.

Actually in retrospect that 'not defending the city to defend the city' was a terrible idea. It would have totally dissuaded them attacking my core city. Learning lessons every turn. Took peace without looking around, couple of units I could have killed. Not on a roll with this one. Really I shouldn't have taken peace at all just to keep them on edge. Loss of my production city has put me into second place in production. I feel the best plan from here is to build up defenses in vulnerable coastal town, whosit could pull a similar move on my other coast, and carry on like nothing has happened. Work on building a tech advantage -> go to war when profitable. I have had the opportunity to damage ipecac/Dreylin for some time but I really think I need to kill them or destroy their capacity to make war for it not to be a quagmire. What that tech advantage is I don't know. My tech rate is too weak to decide easily. I do have a golden age in GPs sitting around, if I consolidate Grimace-land and conquer a sizable part of ipecac then it would be a good move to fire it. Just need to make it a reality.

Well you cant let this atack unpunished your reputation in this game and in the future will have a lot to suffer.

Hey Elum, well-played on the attack -- even though I worried that it might happen it still caught me by surprise at basically the worst possible moment.

Also, apologies for screwing your GLH gambit. We'd already made the decision to head for that very early, and I was worried about losing it to your IND nature. smile

Thanks Grimace, it was an opportunistic war for sure.

Ipecac whipped 7 times last turn and I can't decide what he's up to, so I've put a turn of commerce into EP on him. It may also inform me whether to go Astro or rifling first. Likely it will spin him out and ruin any chance of a naval attack, but the pieces are falling into place. Amphibious knights are surprisingly good, glad I saved those GGs.

*Disclaimer* I have clicked on the lurker thread AND Grimaces old thread by accident now. I read joey say 'it was totally justified', and wetbandit say 'GG Grimace'. I need that extension to block threads, morning me is not ruled by logic. (Which makes it a great time to play civ!)

In case you didn't find it, Zak's script is here. Needs Firefox or Chrome, IIRC, though, and it doesn't help on phones.

Nice thread! How're things going?

Thanks man. Tablet is the worst offender unfortunately.

On the subject of things and them going, I have run into a dilemma. I was potentially going to attack ipecac next turn but he just played before me! This is break in a long established turn order and It seems cheap to take advantage of this and switch to second in turn order but then the alternative is a double move. Guess I will have to delay. Doubt it will be a big deal. In domestic news I built Oxford in my best but lacklustre commerce capital, and worldwide it seems CH got dog piled whilst rushing for cavalry. Great turn of events thematically but it seems like it will seal my fate as winner.

That really sucks that the turn order got skipped and your attack got scuffled, but yeah I think it's best if you end up waiting a turn. =/

So next turn I will play before him effectively double moving him but I'm not doing anything now to take advantage of it. I don't know if I need to prove any of this? This is actually incredibly inconvenient as I've been planning this attack for like 10 turns and next turn would be the perfect turn to attack.

Edit:

Disclosure: Turn rolled. I am doing a mass upgrade this turn and will attack on the next. If there is any reason my double moving him in this situation is not fair game would someone let me know because I haven't played the second turn yet and will do so in the morning, so it is still possible to abort. I have moved no units last turn and will have no jump on him because of this, but I'd like an expert opinion.

So I did my mass upgrade. Blew over 3 grand. We will see. Should have some time to post pictures and plans tomorrow, I'm super busy with university at the moment.
