New FFH2 PBEM?

Hey Sarumon, I resent the save just in case ...
Reply

Sent to Sarumon ... although I *DID* get the save around 7:30 am and didn't realize it until around 3pm ... >_>

At this point, I heavily advocate to have the tracker (Website) updated to include OldLion's email.

Updated because of delays on your end??? I've been waiting for the save since I sent it around on Friday.

It just arrived in my inbox this morning, but I was locked out of my apartment all last night, and didn't get back in until noon today (at which I immediately collapsed to get some sleep in my own bed- I had crashed at a friend's place, but slept poorly...) I just woke up less than 5 minutes ago...

My play window is 9:30-11 PM most days, and I should be able to play it by then tonight, it not earlier.

Yes, I would like to avoid delaying the turn, or more appropriately, I would like to be notified of my turn more conveniently .... and as selfish as that sounds, that is just the way it is.

Tasunke, the turn has not been delayed- not by me. The save was sent to me at 6:44 AM this morning. It would be unreasonable to expect to have received it back even before now...

Speaking of which, Old Lion was left with some rather complex choices this turn that I didn't get to leave him instructions for (and he didn't make good decisions, or wait for me like he should have).

A replay is currently necessary.

Once again, I am not responsible for Old Lion jumping the save when I could not reasonable have accessed it. The save arrived at 6:44 AM this morning. Old Lion played it at 7:18 AM, without any instructions from me. There is no way I could have reasonably reached the save before then- especially as I was locked out of my apartment today until noon (long story, but irrelevant to the fact that the timeline was unreasonable for me to act first...)

I am sending around the Turn 34 save again now.

Once again, expecting me to act between 6:44 and 7:18 AM this morning was NOT reasonable. Old Lion didn't have the instructions he needed to play the turn (as I was anticipating being able to get at the save by or before my normal play window when I sent it around on Friday) and he should not have played this particular turn without permission, as complex decisions were involved I didn't feel comfortable leaving to him.

Please use the save I am now sending around.

Its not that anyone expects it of you, but it is a benefit to the game when you can both work like a team and get the turns played and sent regardless of who plays them. That you see the wisdom in this is your own choice, but for your sake it should come sooner than later. I do not know of many that can simply sit idly by while accepting someone else's orders blindly. I used to have a turn helper in an earlier game and he left after I had been overly critical a time or two. The game died. Had I been nicer at the time the game might have played to its conclusion ....

We the other players are more than happy to see the game brought to a proper end, and we are prepared to take any measures necessary to do so. The game dying due to slow turns or poor sportsmanship do not qualify as a proper end. I am more than prepared to take a teammate if I create significant delays in the future ... an EQUAL teammate. And I'll be damned if I treat him half as badly as you are treating OldLion.

The sooner you accept that you are a part of a team, the better. Being *primary* turn player means that your turn-saves are given (some) priority over his, if given over a similar time-window. It does not mean that you can simply declare his turn-saves invalid.

EDIT:
B/c sarumon still has the save, I was going to go ahead and replay it in the name of decency ... but as you have not properly e-mailed me the save ... whether Sarumon or I get to the save first is anyone's guess. Please do go ahead and email me YOUR save, if it is still important to you.

Edit Edit: Save just arrived in my inbox, playing it now.

Tasunke,

Until I can teach Old Lion a more regular, structured way to play his turns, where he does not regularly miss extremely important decisions (like making necessary civics changes), and requires instructions from me about said decisions to even realize said decisions exist, I can't yet treat him as an equal turn-player. I would love to- but he needs to get a lot better at Fall From Heaven 2 first...

Speaking of which, you could help me out if you were willing to play a one-on-one game or two against him in real-time like you earlier offered me. Doing so might help him to refine his skills- especially if he take screenshots of his turns (something he still doesn't do even for my own lurker-thread! Another issue I haven't managed to resolve with him... I have asked him repeatedly now for screenshots to be posted of saves he plays, but he still doesn't do it!) and reviews them with lurkers and other players as he is playing.

Please re-play this last turn and send it around ASAP so that it doesn't create delays.

You said the save was with Saruman? (and only sent 2-3 hours ago)

So it shouldn't create *any* delays doing this
, and it wasn't reasonable (or in this case, even possible- as I was locked outside my apartment without access to my laptop) to expect act in the 34 minutes between the arrival of the save at 6:44 AM this morning and when Old Lion sent it around a 7:18 AM...

I would be more than happy to play just such a game with Oldlion. Any such game at all. Including this one.

(I would rather not add additional PBEMs to my plate for the moment)

That's what I meant.

Send him a PM- I'm sure he would love to play with you!

Did you replay Turn 34 using the save I sent you? You said you sent Saruman the save only 2-3 hours ago, so it shouldn't create any significant delays re-sending, especially before his normal play-window. (and on a holiday, nonetheless, where he might be more busy than normal)

Once again, I would have loved to have acted sooner- but I was quite literally locked out of my apartment this morning (and last night) and just woke up about an hour ago...

OK, looks like Tasunke managed to replay and re-send the turn not too long after I sent it (a little after 7 PM tonight) based on his e-mails to me and the info on the tracker.

Saruman, when you get around to playing the save, please make sure you play the one Tasunke sent you more recently, as this is derived from the turn I played, rather than the one played by Old Lion!

IF you guys get the save around relatively soon tonight, I *might* be able to squeeze out a second turn. If I do, I'll try to see about leaving Old Lion instructions for playing a turn tomorrow before my play-window at 9:30-11 PM (I have two work shifts tomorrow, so I won't be available earlier).
