I declined. I'll give you my spare sheep, but I'm not going to give you gold. At 0% I'm only producing +16gpt, so 1 is a significant part of that. So sorry.
I started whipping this turn to get some units built, though, just in case he decides to attack. I also debarked the settler across the straight, so that city will get built next turn.
So T96 I found that HAK had beaten me to the island to my south. Le sigh.
On T97 (or maybe it was T96) Commodore got the Colossus. He has a significant lead now with 11 cities.
Also on T97 the barb axe across the straight came for my new city (named Quiet Riot). I had a G1/G2/G3 Gallic in the city, which would have terrible odds on the defensive, but had 50% withdrawal odds on the offense. Unfortunately I hadn't had time to get an axe or chariot there. So I attacked out with my GW, hoping to do damage and withdraw, and it worked! I took the axe down to 1.4/5, an my GW was at 1.0/6. So I then moved the scout I was taking down south into the city, figuring he could absorb the next attack (not being a melee unit), as I would be able to put a chariot in the city on T98.
Then on T98, the barb axe attacked my scout and lost! So my city is safe and I didn't lose any units!
Unfortunately, I can already see what's going to happen. I'm not sure how Commodore was able to expand so fast, get two wonders, a GS, and have the highest power level of anyone whose graphs I can see so quickly, but it's a virtual certainty that as the weakest player in this game I will be targeted, probably in the next 20-30 turns. If not by Commodore then by retep or HAK. Gavagai may also kick my two cities off of his land as there's no way I'll be able to put enough units there to really hold them against what he could field as a whole empire.
Ah well. I am going to amass an army of G3 Gallic Warriors and take that goddamn marble city from HAK in any case.

Keep your chin up! Not dead yet!
Doh! That was the opposite of what I expected, so I didn't really pay close attention. Gah! In that case, there is probably some diplomatic meaning attached to it, though I don't really know what it was, unless he was offering to pay for the sheep?
Thank you, though, for pointing that out, changes things slighty.
And don't worry, I know I'm not dead yet, a lot can happen to change it. I'll be posting lots of screenshots for T100, but my power is respectable, even if not up to Commodore's level.
On T100, though, time to do a "state of the empire" so all the lurkers can compare each of the players.
Before that, though, Buddhism (my religion) spread to Borche's empire, on the exact opposite side of the world from me. I assume it must have spread through someone else because I don't even have contact with him. But it was strange to see that pop up.
Also, got an OB request from retep:
I accepted. My scout has nothing to do right now, so might as well send him to explore up there.
So, state of the empire...
Domestic Advisor:
I'm trying to keep 2-3 military units in production at all times, as you'll see why later.
And my current military strength:
Yes, I know I'm low on workers. Fixing that.
Geography of the empire:
And the graphs...
GNP
Prod
CY
Power
Overall demos
As you can see, overall I'm near the back (though not last!), and with Commodore's power going up and up, I don't want to be his first target, so even though it's costing me to maintain the units, I keep building them.
Game's been quiet lately...not a lot going on. I've been focusing on growing my cities larger and keeping my military strength up while not completely tanking the economy.
T102ish GJ got a GS and Commodtay got a Prophet, which he used to kick off a GA, after which he switched to Hiduism, HR and OR. This turn GJ completed the Pyramids.
It's becoming very clear that Commodtay has a significant tech lead right now...he's already gotten Monarchy, Monotheism, Metal Casting, and at 0% science is producing 149gpt. I'm at 14gpt at 0%. I knew I was outmatched in this group, but damn. I =think= I have Iron Working on him since he has iron and it's mined but it's not roaded, which I'm sure he would do if he could see it.
Well, next city will be built T105 on that peninsula to the NE of Motley Crue, which will help a bit -- not too much maintenance as it's close to the capital. It's going to need some forest and jungle chops to be really useful, though.
And Commodtay's power keeps going up like crazy. He's now very far ahead of HAK, Retep and I (who are all pretty close -- I'm leading the three of us, but not by a lot). I'll grab a graph next turn.
Not much to write home about, and currently a small drain, but if I survive long enough it'll be ok.
Also, as promised, here's the power:
Gavagai is going crazy building units...I presume to take the two cities I have across the straight. I'm not even sure he's run up against any of his other neighbors on the other side. And there's not even much point in trying to resist...given the jump in power I couldn't stop him if I had my entire army over there...borders haven't even expanded on either city yet.
Though I'll freely admit my suboptimal play has pretty much made me the "Most Likely to be Eliminated First", I partly blame the mapmaker. I was sandwiched between other players who had space to expand on their other side so they were free to expand towards me and hem me in. I had nowhere to expand. Admittedly I wasn't as fast to expand as they were, but even if I had been I would have gotten 2, maybe 3 more cities tops before I was out of land.
Nothing too eventful. I'm running two Scientists in Motley Crue to try to get myself some kind of research going, as my economy is utter crap. I'm debating on switching from Metal Casting to something I might actually have a chance of researching in a reasonable time. I'm at 7gpt at 0% science and -42gpt at 100%. My break-even is about 15%. That's what I get for cottaging slowly, damnit.
Well, I'll be running another scientist in Poison as soon as it finishes its settler.
Also whipped a Monument in Quiet Riot this turn, and a work boat from Poison was able to get the crabs for Twisted Sister, so it will begin growing faster now.
I'm building Moai Statues in Warrant, which is the city immediately south of Motley Crue. It has the lake and several coastal tiles, and it's the best place for it that I'll have, I think.
I posted this in the tech thread as well, but I'll be going camping this coming weekend, probably from Friday evening - Sunday afternoon US/Pacific time, so if someone is willing to play any turns that occur then, I would appreciate it. I'll leave some instructions, but to be honest short of actively sabotaging my empire it's unlikely anyone could make things much worse.
