Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

[Spoilers] Elkad thinks catchy thread titles are silly.

if you haven't got a state religion you get +1cpt for each religion in a city. With a state religion you only get culture for that religion.

T108 - Everyone else..
Commodore will have Feudalism next turn. He was profiting 150+ gpt when he had research at 0. Colossus+GA... If he has Machinery (or uses his new GE on it), that means Guilds in ~10 turns.
HAK is stacking gold (157+86/t) with research set to HBR, he's probably 3-4 turns out
DZ says HBR in 2, but he only has 27 gold banked. If that's binary, add a couple turns to that.
DZ's power is on a rocket, he's about to pass Commodore.
Joey's power is climbing as well, I don't have research visibility on him. He doesn't have Iron.

My territory. Capital market completes this turn finally (raising max pop to 11), whip anger is fading in other cities.
The Hague with Academy+Holy got me that 3rd ring horse a few turns ago. But Joey build Pyramids in Apache, which has the same horses in his 3rd ring. 2 turns ago the culture split was 80/20. Now it's 72/28, so I'll lose the horse again in about 7 turns. Which means if I want any Chariots, it has to be now, and researching HBR will only get me Jumbos.

DZ's little chariot stack in Dusquene is down to 2 chariots. However, with the way his power graph is running, the rest have joined a medium sized SoD somewhere. Question is, where. I've got no choice but to assume it's aimed at me. He doesn't have Iron yet (unless he's being sneaky and trading his iron with iron from someone I haven't met yet), but he does have Ivory for when HBR completes.

Joey's power is also a worry, but at least I know he's been in a war down south. Or maybe he's just better at hiding his troops.

I hate this reactionary game, but I put myself in it with my lazy start. Here's hoping if DZ or GJ attack me, the other will take the opportunity to knock down the big opponent instead of just splitting up my territory.

Was right on DZ's research, he switched last turn and made 80ish gold. I assume he'll switch back this turn and finish up HBR.
He has iron hooked up now.

My catapults are coming online. Calendar in 1. First Calendar hookups will be near rotterdam, as I need more roads there anyway for troop movements.

Since I've got some time, I guess a report is in order.
First off, what the heck is going on here? The wheat tile at Maastricht is 2nd ring for me, 3rd for Commodore. He only settled a few turns before me. And he is going to flip it next turn (along with the 2 forests north of it). What the hell is in that city I can't see? It's not Maoi (no water hammers). Library+Barracks+Monument wouldn't have him into 3rd ring yet. Academy seems unlikely, though I haven't been tracking his GS pops. That leaves Colossus? A culture push from Maastricht and Leiden both should get me the wheat back, but those 2 forests will probably be chopped before I can get them back.

And demos. I'm woefully behind in food & sheilds. Power isn't great either.

EP. Apparently Commodore ran the slider a couple turns. Only explanation for his 2 jumps. Of course he can afford it...

GNP. Not bad at all. 3rd. Everything else, terrible.

Given the culture problem, I'm going to bang out myst/med (1t each, with 20 hammers worth of wealth build to keep my wallet above 0)

This is the first AI diplo game I've ever played. Wish there was a way to communicate to Joey and DZ I'd like to take my army and go kick Commodore off my land, if I could get some assurance of a few turns of peace from them. It would benefit us all.
I'm not really even sure how this works, but I'm playing on the assumption that I can't parade around with units named "commodoremustdie"?
If I offer them silk, they will probably just use the extra happiness to whip another catapult...

You are correct, unit names like that are not considered ok.

Right. I can just see where the guys who play here regularly instead of once every 3 years would have developed a bunch of signals, like bidding at bridge.
If I offer you 17gold for your 16 gold, it means X.. 8 gold for 1gpt means Y. A distant city of yours for a distant city of mine means Z.

I seem to remember seeing stuff like that in some other game thread here, but I'm cruising through RB22 threads right now and can't find anything like that.

there's definitely no codex of offers. People tend to try and do symbolism best they can. fish for fish means peace, iron for iron means war, offers of cities usually indicate something about the area those cities are in/who they border, gold is used to indicate turns ('iron and 10g for iron and 10g' means war in 10 turns).

Also keep in mind that these are often misinterpreted, and are completely nonbinding and taken advantage of by the enterprising warmongerer. So feel free to try and craft something to get a message across but don't depend on it. Unless you're feeling daring.

Yeah. I gave up 2nd spot in the order to try at some diplo. DZ instead took the opportunity to kick off his attack, or shove everything up to the border anyway.
He put up a ridiculous offer for me to give him Hague and Rotterdam for free.

If I'm going to do that, I might as well give the rest of my cities to Commodore and play Fortress Amsterdam.
I'll fight it out. Declared on DZ just to make it obvious. Guess I'll find out next turn how many HA are behind that stack.

Wish I had engineering for 3-moves, then I could keep my reserve out of view of that Sentry (or at least force it to take the plains hill instead of hiding in the stack). Oh well.

Offered my first Silk to Commodore, maybe it'll buy me a few turns before he sends a single Knight to mop up my naked eastern cities.

Was that Galley there to put a Worker on the Pigs?

Definitely innovative!
