Bugger. Consider fortifying in place on the cotton? Sucks, but it will give you an advantage.
Otherwise, send one of them back, and move warriors to double-team the other. Your choice as to who - but I'm inclined to NorthWar goes west, City goes North, and SouthWar goes into city. Although now I think about it, the skele might go for the forest hill next turn...

Yep, he moved as you suspected; what we didn't realise was that the Goblin, having spotted Ventessel's Scout, would move to chase him

didn't take a shot, but the Skeleton moved SW again onto the Pigs. Pushed the Bloodpet that was 1N, West across the river and fortified the Northern Bloodpet. The move away by the Goblin meant that I didn't have to switch to building a Bloodpet, and the Skeleton heading SW puts him way from the Worker zone, so I don't need to change my hard-won micro!

Yay!
And I didn't need to do more than tweak my micro!

Well here's a nice empty wilderness with no irrigation.
Copper popped down here:
Doesn't help me with the dotmap much though ... suggestions welcome.

Bleh. At least it's backfill, not border.

I'm thinking 2E of the Mana Node for the next city site; work City2's Pigs and chop out a Monument to grab the Dyes/Cows/Rice.
Could move the Southern city 1N to get the Copper 2nd Ring, plant 1W of the Copper, or just go for 1S of the second Corn and have a bit slower start-up.

All-told we got 7 turns in, which was great. Left me with 4 turns of Micro, but I need to make a production decision in 2t. Settler just completed and I'm going to push out a Bloodpet, but then the decision is whether to put out a 3rd Worker, or go straight to a Settler. If I push City #3 out past City #2 (East or North), then I'm pretty sure that the current Workers will have the site ready, but if I go South or SW, then I need a 3rd Worker to start getting it ready. Currently favouring continuing East, as mentioned before, so Settler next. I can get Worker #3 out of City2 once it has maxed out growth.
Went back and did the C&D for the blitz turns:
DaveV is easiest; he has got 2 techs since Calendar, and has recently accelerated up to Size 6. I'm pretty sure he hasn't got a second city down.
Aurorarcher is also straighforward; he got a tech 5t after Calendar, which is too fast for Mining so probably Exploration or Chants. Capital is still at Size 4, but he founded his second city first on t31 and it has already grown to size2.
Jalepeno is also simple; he has one tech past Calendar which could be Mysticism given research length. He founded his second city this turn (t34).
Ventessel is a bit of a mystery; he grew to size 7 and then 2t later had another score bump that looked like pop, but couldn't be Capital (from Top5 cities). It really can't be a settled second city either though because he's not stopped growing long enough to build a Settler. Then 5t later he lost that score increase again. Subsequently the Capital has grown to Size 8. He's also scored 2 Techs since Calendar - could be Crafting-Mining.
Dreylin: About to discover Ancient Chants & start AH. Capital at Size6; Settler popped EoT & will plan t36.

The Goblin does seem to have paused before attacking this turn, so I have moved Madeleine to cover if Gabriel loses against the odds. Also note that poor Yaffle is going to be stuck guarding that Ancient Tower for the foreseeable future to keep that area defogged.
I'm feeling pretty set on that Eastern spot for the 3rd city; I can borrow the Pigs from Ivor and pre-Farm the Mana Node so it can get a running start, then chop the monument while Mining and Farming the first ring. That will get me the Dyes happiness fastest to let all my cities grow.
I've also settled a bit on a dotmap for the SE:
I'd love to get an early reach city down to that Canal location, but I don't think that will be practical without the intermediate support - and that won't be practical without either Bronze Working to chop some Jungle, or a source of quick Culture - e.g. Bear.
I'm really wondering right now whether I should be beelining for OO to give me a Culture/Happy source ... and of course future Cultists for map domination.

I'm just a bit dim ; he did grow his Capital to Size 8, but then starved it down to Size 7 and then regrew to Size 8.
