I'm on strike. You're not paying me nearly good enough. And your people skills as a boss sucks.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Say what?

Have you smoked something you shouldn't have recently, like xenu's dirty socks?

Apparently I'm a better manager than these so-called tech guys are at getting tech to run. Amirite? mischief

Xenu doesn't wear socks. He's typical labor. "Works" from home and spends ten months at the beach with his ass in the lawn chair, toes in the sand. pirate

Looks like he is repaying that in kind right now...

Well, you've obviously smoked the seat of said lawn chair then, given your complete lack of contact with reality here. smoke

You are incorrect. I spend my time at the beach moving mountains of sand with inefficient plastic tools, no lawn chairs involved. The rest is fairly accurate.

As of now all the games* are up:

*Sorry CFC pitboss guys, I still don't have the password for your game. alright

The games are on the same ports as before, just change the server name and hope it doesn't crash. scared

PB18 - xenu.no-ip.org:2058 (Sorry, no pitboss portal. Report turn progress in the PB18 Tech Thread).
PB22 - xenu.no-ip.org:2061 (Civstats)
PB23 - xenu.no-ip.org:2062 (Civstats)
PB25 - xenu.no-ip.org:2057 (Civstats)
PB26 - xenu.no-ip.org:2059 (Civstats)

There is one more element I haven't got into play yet, but I'll have to talk to Caledorn about it unless someone else knows where I can get the portal sniffer application he uses to close down ports that get stuck open when a pitboss client disconnects. I think that was the solution for a lot of crashes we had a while back, so I'd like to set it up here if I can, especially since my setup wasn't so robust last week.

As for why you should bother trying...I think this should be more stable than when I hosted before. I've set up a VM that's running only these pitboss instances and used native Civ 4 installation media rather than using the Steam installation I had on my desktop PC. So far it seems more stable just from testing. I hope it survives this time.

Please post any difficulties or outages here and in your game's tech thread for maximum visibility.

Thanks.

Edit: I should mention, I've set the turn timer for each game to 44 hours, which should approximate to two days. This can be set back to the normal timer for each game after the next turn to make sure everyone is aware we're underway again.

Also, as you see this please log into your game and pause it. I don't have login credentials to pause all the games. Help! smile
