Well, that was the original plan. Now it's there to make DZ worry, since he hadn't seen it before this turn.
[Spoilers] Elkad thinks catchy thread titles are silly.

And here we go.
That's it? No HA? Not even chariots in the stack to soak collateral? ![]() Both catapults retreated, yay! Lost a single axe killing his stack. Spear kills the forward chariot and moves back into the city. The other chariot on the hill I could have killed, but it would have required leaving a spear exposed to counterattack from the sword/axe/sentry chariot in his borders (visible as a sword), and whatever else is in range (probably quite a lot) Made a peace demand on the far end of reasonable for him: his 96 gold, his map, and Red Bank (his island city). Not that I expect him to take it, but it's in the realm of possibility. Overflow from whipping last turn and some tile arranging let me squeeze out six 1t archers for this turn. Crappy garrison units, but frees up a bunch of axes. Oh, and settled city #11 in the north for sheep+silk, which finishes off my land, other than maybe a food-borrowing village on the NW corner of the island (silk, 2 lakes, and maybe some borrowed cows or crabs) (May 26th, 2015, 07:19)Elkad Wrote: Wish I had engineering for 3-moves, then I could keep my reserve out of view of that Sentry (or at least force it to take the plains hill instead of hiding in the stack). Oh well. I was really expecting him to push that sentry in first, see my reserve stack (on the plains silk) and play a little smarter. But if he wants to just feed me GG points, I'm all for that too. Oh, and Commodore took my silk (for one of his horses). Maybe he'll stay off my back a while if I keep bribing him. Edit: And I've got my head in the sand re:Joey. If I don't look at him, he won't notice me, right? ![]()

DZ rejected my peace offer, and offered a blank one back.
I'd like to counter-offer for at least a few gold, but I need my troops free. They are now scrambling for my front with Commodore without even waiting to heal, but he gets Guilds next turn and he's clear-cutting everything near me, so I may be in trouble as early as 2 turns from now.
T127 - Joey has declared war on me on T125. My treaty with DZ expired the same turn, but he didn't declare. I declared on DZ and immediately offered peace on T126. He denied it and re-offered, so it was waiting for me this turn. Accepted of course. So I'm safe until 137. Which frees my stack from that border.
Joey is only attacking on the big island. I lost one island city, I'll lose another next turn. 7 units vs 3. I'd need a flawless victory with my only spear vs his Jumbo to have a chance of holding. Think I can hold the 3rd and final one, despite the 6 additional units he just dropped off a galley near it. I'll probably lose my Ivory near it to pillaging though. No sign of any of his troops on our continental border. My reserve stack from DZs border is headed towards Joey, plus a couple new jumbos. However, Joey will have Feudalism next turn, so longbows. At best I might get a single continental city, and I doubt I can hold it. Maybe take the one bordering DZ as well, and gift it to him? I have EP visibility on Commodore's cities on my peninsula, watched him load xbows onto ships and sail away, so I should be safe on that front as well. Also got EP visibility on a bunch of HAKs land, which let me finally get contact with Grimace and someone else. (retep I think). Actually used the slider this turn (20%), which should give me visibility on Joey's 3 nearest cities next turn to plan my potential counterattack. Fishing for help from HAK. Joey's island cities are all empty, and his stacks are in my culture. HAK has 2 axes on the island, and a least one galley nearby. Just as my score started to climb out of the cellar, I've whipped it all back down again. You might want to check if that kind of city gift is allowed in the rules - I have a feeling it isn't.

If you're at war and someone has an army in the field and can take your city and break your army in the process, then that's a good time to give up the city in a trade. You taking a city then gifting it away to a third player and thereby removing the possibility for your opponent to counterattack the city in what would probably be favorable conditions to do so is not fair to that opponent because he would have to nuke trade routes and declare war on an otherwise uninvolved party to get back what he ought to be able to get back directly from you. I'd protest this pretty vigorously if it happened to me. Edit: Just to be clear, I'm not 100% up on circumstances and my argument against the move is intended to be a general, for all circumstances type of argument. Good luck in your battles. ![]() |
