Monks have a base move of zero? Why?

Another late addition to the list. I had the volcano event happen while playing as elves, and discovered that elves can't build improvements on smoke nor on burnt forest without chopping first. This has the potential to be a real screw job for the elves, and it would be nice for them if it were fixed (while you're making changes anyway, if it's an easy fix, etc., etc.).

Isn't that the case for everyone, though? I don't think you can build lumbermills on smoke either.
I believe that no one can build on smoke ... but ... all it takes is Water 1 to dissapate the smoke (I think)
And besides, smoke gives way to fire, gives way to forests burning down, and either burnt forest or new forest taking its place. IMHO, it seems like a viable strategy to cast Fire 1 and start burning down Ljosalfar forests ... and just b/c I havent done it yet doesnt mean I havent been planning on the like for a great many years now, if ever I got the chance to. (So I think its a valid strategy, and I don't think there need be made any *additional* loopholes to avoid it, since its a very RARE sort of strategy. Plus, unless I'm absolutely mistaken, I believe an army of invading workers does the job much more efficiently (time wise, if not hammer wise)) (July 5th, 2015, 16:04)DaveV Wrote: Monks have a base move of zero? Why? By lose 2 base moves, I mean they go from 2->1 base moves. Oh and smoke eventually goes to forest again, doesn't it?
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.
Q: do Monks really start with Mobility 2, so 3 moves?
With respect to smoking forest: I had the volcano smoke a forested sugar and lost ~50 turns of happiness I was really counting on. I'm clearly outvoted on this one, and I guess it's not as bad as a jungle growing on the same tile.
Huh? Smoke doesn't destroy improvements or prevent building one, does it (after the chopping is done)?

No. But in the specific case of elves who haven't researched Mining, they can't build on smoke where they could build on the tile if it weren't smoking. Even if they have Mining, having to chop the forest kind of negates one of their biggest advantages. |
