Map is mostly too big for that. Closest border is with Brick, in that he settled a city pretty far north of his capital (like all of us have to do to get decent land). That city is in/near a spot I was contemplating myself, and is only a short distance south from the current borders of my city of Tyler's. He used it to grab the Clams that are down there, but it's also somewhat surrounded by some desert. One of the reasons I didn't push down there with Tyler's in the first place. I was planning to send that settler all the way down there, but in the end decided it was more important to get a city settled ASAP and closer to my capital....and in a spot where I could have trees and grass.
So that spot down there may end up being one of my first conquests at some point. Especially if this war between Brick and Khan is a real one, which I doubt. Still too early for that, I think.
EDIT: My post with screenshots on 6/23 should give you an idea of the map size and distance to my neighbors. If you want some tile counts for reference if you can't piece together the maps well enough, I can do that later.
